What a wonderful book!
Love this book - it’s full of useful tips and tricks for knitters. I’ve been knitting for nearly sixty years and am still learning. This book has helped me to realise that you can always learn something new to improve the look of items. A book that is definitely worth every penny.

The WHY of knitting
This is the best book on knitting that I have read. Instead of just giving step by step instructions it explains why the techniques work. I find this very empowering as it makes it so much easier to remember the hows. There is also a great section on how to form the basic stitch that I found really helpful. It is a very well written book, with excellent illustration and full of cheerful humour.

Fabulous book!!
This book will get referred to again and again!! Not just a 'how to' book but a 'why' book so much easier to get your head round things when you have good explanations of 'why' they work too.Even after knitting for years, I'm finding lots of little 'aha' moments. Some books come and go from my book shelf but this is very much a keeper :-)

Does the job
I like its wit and the fact that it gives you explanations about why stitches misbehave or don't behave like you'd expect them too. An advanced knitter won't find much to learn here and a beginner might find it too detailed. Good illustrations and some infos on the development of knitting through time.

Everyone who knits needs this book!
I’ve flicked through the book and thoroughly read 2 chapters and I already know this book is going to be invaluable. I have followed Patty Lyon’s for a few years, discovering her from the Modern Daily Knitting site, and I love to read her How To advice columns. Sometimes I have experienced the same problem, but a lot of the time it’s something I’ve never experienced or even heard of in knitting, but I love to get my needles out and give Patty’s advice a go, so that I gain new skills and improve my knitting. This is exactly what this book is too, and I know I’m going to reach for it whenever I get stuck on a project or if I’m between projects and want to do some swatches and learn new ways to decrease etc. It’s made me think about the fabric I’m creating when I knit, and how the stitches work together, something I’ve not really thought of before. I recommend this book to every knitter, of all skill levels, I really think it will take pride of place on anyones book shelf, and become one of their most invaluable tools. Also, the binding is supposed to look like that! It’s a special sewn stay flat binding which means you can put it down and it will stay open on the same page so you can knit and follow along!
