The overall measurement is 16" 1/2".. The blade is 1 1" .. and it is 3/4" wide all the way down to the drop point. Hope this helps.

The sword doesn’t lay upright in the stand, am I doing something wrong?

Could be, the stand is kind of tricky. First, don't follow the position of the sword in the photo. It is wrong according to tradition. The bow in the sword should be pointing up, not down. Then the sword should be balanced on the stand, so you may need to move the sword to the left or right to get the right balance. Maybe, even glue the stand together to give it better stability.
