Doodle, Draw, Journal: An Art Journaling Workbook (Art Journal Workbook)

Multi-media complex projects - not a doodle journal
The requirement list of materials for this book is intimidating and expensive and I actually own an extensive amount of art supplies but lacked most on their list. I recommend previewing the book and taking a long look at requirements before purchase. The layout of the book is perplexing to me. This was done by designers right? It has lots of blank pages to draw in, but they're not meant to be drawn on. Okay that makes no sense - but that's how it is, there is a ton of blank space in the book but you're meant to use your own materials and journal and not the book to render the art projects so the reader is left wondering -- why is the page blank? Use some stock art or something, but don't leave it blank! ;-P We're artists right? :-)If the book was restyled and renamed, "Art Projects for Multimedia Enthusiasts" then it would be apply titled and hit the correct audience. If you like working with fabric, found objects and loads of media then you'll enjoy this book as the projects do seem to be well conceived but I don't have the stuff to try them out to give a fair review of how they turn out.If you're a doodler and don't have much time like me it's a waste of money. If you need a book to Doodle in I recommend, "Art Doodle Love" by Dawn Sokol. It has pages to doodle in, lots of fun prompts and is fast and easy and self-contained. It's more aimed at the Doodle artists in my opinion and lacks the heavy multimedia angle of Doodle Draw Journal.

Hugely Disappointing
The amount of blank sheets to printed pages is too much. If the author had nothing more to write or doodle, perhaps she should have waited for more inspiration. If I had picked up this book at a garage sale for $1.00, I would not have been so irritated, but $10.00 is too much to pay. Whoever is the author's editor should be ashamed. I will donate this book to the free table at a book sale.

Doodle, Draw, Journal
Filled with lots of great ideas to get you going when you want to draw and don't know where to start. I will be using it for several more months because it has so many ideas and blank pages to test them out. Love it.

Love love love this journal......It has color on the pages already to give you a jumpstart...and also so you can journal anywhere even if you don't have paint or markers. Very fun idea!

Very disappointing and uninspiring
This was a real disappointment - it's just a combination of other books which I mostly had, of 128 pages in total - 79 pages are blank for you to draw on - and these 'blank' pages are a flat unspiring pale blue with a bit a text at the top - and the paper isn't great quality so wouldn't stand up to a lot of mixed media. Unlike the Dawn Devries Sokol books which inspire you to draw all over as every blank page has different painted backgrounds and the paper is lovely. Fortunately I got this as used so didn't pay too much for it, but I think it's a bit of a rip off. Should have taken notice of the reviews already on there!
