"Golden Bamboo" 8-hole Nanxiao - Chinese Shakuhachi Xiao Flute

This is such an incredible flute (@ 2ft 1in! With that beautiful clear haunting low windy sound) and an incredible price. The sound is so beautiful & it's very well made. 5 stars.

I paid over 100 dollars for this clearly defective flute. The main chamber of the flute should be smooth on the inside. This flute has a large chunk of a resin like substance on the inside that makes it impossible play correctly. I noticed after I swallowed a piece of it while attempting to play it for the first time. I have since purchased another xiao from a reputable shop and it plays perfectly, even into the 3rd octave. I contacted the seller and they never returned my emails. This flute it clearly taken from the reject pile. The way Oriental Music Sanctuary comports business is absolutely unconscionable.

Very pleased, met all expectations. Bamboo cracks and several small ones near the root end were nicely sealed by the finishing sealant. Plays beautifully.

This is a really good quality, well tuned instrument, however, it is difficult to use the higher octaves as compared to other, less expensive units.

Lovely sound ,growing with the flute...

I was surprised to see that the Nan Xiao was easy to play. The sound was very crisp. I would recommend this to anyone wanting to learn how to play a front end blown flute. I like the idea of a root end instrument. It plays half-hole covered with good tone. Very nicely built instrument. It was shipped very securely with a PVC tube protector and package came totally taped. I would have loved to see a fingering chart; but it was not included. Despite the lack of fingering charts, I like this instrument.
