2014 subaru crosstrek 184k miles I recently used Subaru CVT-II transmission fluid in my 2014 Subaru Crosstrek, and it completely solved the "hard shifting" issue I was experiencing at around 20-25 mph. After the fluid change, the transmission feels smooth and responsive again — like new. Service manual says to take it to a dealership to get the transmission relearned, but i just drove it gently for the first week and all has been good since then (about 5k miles since). The fluid itself is genuine Subaru quality, so I felt confident it was the right choice for my CVT. Installation was straightforward if you’re comfortable with a DIY fluid change, and I noticed a significant improvement immediately. If your Crosstrek is having "hard shifts", I highly recommend this fluid. It’s a relatively simple fix that makes a huge difference in drivability and helps extend the life of your CVT.

OK If you have pulled the CVT drain plug instead of the engine oil plug you will need this fluid and these photos to help obtain the correct transfer pump. The bottle neck shown on the Amazon listing is WRONG and will complicate your guesswork. I just purchased this Fluid as of July 2024 and the bottle necks photos depicted here are known as a "WIDE MOUTH QUART" Like the ones used on Mobil-One Motor oil. See my actual product photos for reference. The transfer pump shown in my photos is a "Pittsburgh Automotive Gear Oil and Fluid Pump" -- Amazon also has "BLACK" pumps that look Just like it: My pump was from Harbor Freight and YES the pump is slow. Our Forester was on the hoist for three days just trying to get the Subaru CTVF-II fluid and the right size pump. After the error I put the CTV plug back into the trans-pan ASAP -- because the CTV Fluid will continue to drain long after that initial gush. Your thumb over the drain will prevent the loss of another four or more quarts when you go to install the new crush washer on the plug. We had 1 and 3/4 quarts left over from the original six pack. This protracted Re-fill procedure took about TWO and 1/2 hours. Again -- the bottles shown on the Amazon listing looks like a power-steering fluid bottle. Armed with my photos when your Subaru fluid arrives you will avoid my pump Size Scramble altogether: -- Good luck to you -- Joe
