Excellent and bright colors, smooth texture, and very easy to wash off! It will stain clothing though if you get more than a few drops in an area, and any fabric it gets on needs to be stain treated and washed asap to avoid it setting. We have used them on a variety of surfaces- paper, canvas, clay, and even rocks! The only downside is the thin plastic lids. Out of three shipments from Amazon recently (packed in boxes), two have arrived with broken lids.
