I'm looking to install over an existing metal handle. Is there enough play to pull this spring handle and wrap it around an existing metal handle?

5.75" long x 1.50" ergonomically tapered center.Fits a 1/2" rod tightly, or 7/16" rod loosely.You will have to cut your old handle and slip it over then reweld the handle.not knowing what yours looks like it may unbolt idk but the spring handle won't just screw over your handle like you might picture a key ring working

No, the springs do not come with caps.

how do you install the springsOn a handle already on the smoker?

Usually you will need to make a cut in the steel rod to allow the old one to slip off before putting the new one on. Then you would need to weld the bar back together. It all depends on the design of the smoker/bbq/stove.

What is the inside diameter of the two end holes?

I think it was 5/8" round bar we welded to it to make our BBQ handle.
