The authors have captured the essence of the Housing First Model, from planning, implementation, fidelity tools, to a large scale international movement. The book discusses policy and true systems change to end homelessness. It includes research and qualitative consumer stories. This version of Housing First addresses macro and micro aspects of the program. It can be understood by the lay reader, used as a college text book or influencing political will and systems change. The authors are committed to their work! Excellent results.

This is a very readable book that combines descriptive history with empirical data to address a revolution in thinking about the critical role of housing security in conversations about mental health care and homelessness. It bypasses paternalistic views of hoops jumped/criteria met prior to obtaining safe housing and, as the title states, moves housing to the front of the action. I shared the book with my son, who is an architect with public housing in his portfolio. It is a singularly important piece of work.
