JJC Reversible Lens Hood Shade for Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 is II USM Replaces Canon Lens Hood ET-74B, with Button to Lock or Release

I'm a bit of sucker a sucker for getting the Canon logo on things, but even I scoffed at the price of the official Canon hood for the 70-300mm IS II USM. The JJC hood fits better and goes on/off more smoothly than most of the official Canon hoods, and is much cheaper than the ET-74B (about $45+ from what I've seen). I like the locking mechanism/release button (I guess the official hood for this lens also has it), and that works a smoothly as everything else. This hood does not have felt-lining, but neither does the original. So I'm quite confident that what I got is everything as good as the official version, at ~1/3 the price.

Cheap piece of plastic that does the job perfectly well and just the ame as the Canon overpriced piece of plastic. it even has the button to lock it in place in the lens.

Fits snuggly. Does the job of the brand name without the brand price. Protects the lens if I bump up against something to get the shot. Keeps most of the glare from the front element from showing up in my pictures.

Did not fit my Canon EF 70-300mm lens as stated in the product info.

Like all the JJC branded lens hoods I have purchased from this point, this lens hood for the Canon EF 70-300mm USM worked perfectly fine. The build quality for this lens hood looked premium. I especially loved the lock function on this lens hood. It saved me from many headaches from those that do not have it. As always, most photography equipment is overpriced and including this lens hood.

I’m sure the hood works fine, but it didn’t fit my lens. It seems EF 70-300mm IS USM and II USM require different hoods.

As if this JCC version wasn't inexpensive enough I decided to buy an even less expensive knock-off. Bad move. Returned it ASAP and bought this JCC model like I should have done in the first place. The JCC version fits the RF 100-300 perfectly, no hassle at all getting it on or off and can be fitted or removed with the lens cap on. Plastic is similar in quality to what the OEM Canon would be. Release button has a good feel and is easy to press.
