Spoiled Yorkie Approved!
(I'm reviewing this item for dogs, as that's what I have - 2 Yorkies.) The overall benefits of Krill oil for pets aren't addressed nearly enough, but should be. First, if you're giving your dog salmon or fish oil instead of Krill, which is probably the case based on several factors (price, availability, knowledge/familiarity of the former over the latter, etc.) I would ask you to look into the benefits of Krill v. Salmon. Just to highlight a few of Krills advantages, it contains Astaxanthin, one of the most powerful antioxidants that the body can absorb, reaching into every part of the cell, both inside and outside of the body. It can cross the blood brain-barrier to protect the brain and nervous system. It also can cross the blood-retinal barrier, so it brings protection to the eyes. Astaxanthin also helps with joint pain and inflammation. Krill is also rich in Phospholipids, DHA, Essential Fatty Acids including Omega 3, 6 & 9. All of which are necessary for a healthy heart. Additionally, Krill is a natural source of Chitosan (it's a derivative of Chitin), which has been shown to help maintain healthy weight, cholesterol and blood pressure levels. Finally, you're going to find that most of your salmon/ fish oil products (or food) comes from the Pacific. You don't want to give your dog (or yourself) ANYTHING that comes from the Pacific due to the Fukashima disaster. Dog food, cat food, treats, salmon/ fish oil - if it's sourced from the Pacific (that includes Alaska) you might want to reconsider feeding it to your beloved pet. Here is another reason why Krill is the better choice over salmon or fish oil in general: Krill is at the bottom end of the food chain and as such, they don't have time to accumulate high levels of mercury or other contaminants that salmon or other fish do. So, I've listed just m a few reasons why I choose Krill over salmon or fish (I'd NEVER give them fish oil!!) to my pups. As for why I chose this particular brand, its Krill is harvested in the Antarctic, which is known to have the most pristine Krill, so they are considered a "clean product." That's important to me because not only do I believe eating and living as clean and organically as possible for my husband, daughter and me, our pets are treated no differently. I want the best for them and currently, I am happy with this product. Perhaps I may find a product with organic ingredients in it, and if so, I would try that, but we have had success with the Tru-Krill and my Yorkies love the taste. Treats are called, "cookies" in our house, so when it's time for their Krill, I say, "Who wants a cookie?" they come running. The only complaint is that, they are crumbly if you have to cut them for small dogs. They remind me of Play-Doh that's been l left out and has started to dry a bit. But, whatever crumbles are left over, I just sprinkle over their food and it's an extra bonus for them. No big deal.

This stuff works! Reduced my Yellow Labrador's shedding by 85-90% in 3-3 1/2 weeks.
This stuff works! Shedding reduced 85-90% in 3-3 1/2 weeks. I have a 11 mo old yellow lab that started shedding about 2 1/2 mo ago. It was terrible, no matter how often I brushed her or had the deep brushing done by the groomer we were still filling up the vacuum canister every day, our clothes were like a dog hair magnet. Out of desperation, and my wife could not take it any longer, I started looking for alternatives. Amazon is my go to place for just about everything I buy, when I saw this Antarctic Krill Oil with the claims it helps prevent shedding I thought, OK I'll give it a try. The reviews were a mixed bag, though overall it had good ratings. A couple of concerns I had based on the reviews were, the dogs didn't like the taste and wouldn't eat the pellets, some dogs threw up, didn't work for shedding, although the dogs coat became very soft and shinny. I followed the directions and gave her two pellets a day she devoured them with no problem. About the second day she did throw up a small amount, that was solved by giving her the pellets right after she ate. In 3 to 3 1/2 weeks her shedding was reduced by 85-90%. I love this Krill Oil and suggest you try it for a month by then you will know if it's going yo work on your dog. By the way, I got very lax on her brushing and in-spite of that her shedding was down tremendously. Danny from W. TN

THEY ARE NOT THE SAME
I have been purchasing this product for over 6 years now to help keep my dogs healthy and also because my dogs enjoyed eating them with no problems. However, on my recent order, my dogs would not eat these chews. I tried everything, but they absolutely refused to eat them. I noticed that these new chews came in a different container and they also have a different texture than the previous batches. I'm not sure if maybe I had received a bad batch or if the company has made changes to the ingredients. Since these chews are not cheap, I tried to return to Amazon, but I found out they are not refundable. I am very disappointed that the maker of this product, Hanzi Pets, does not stand behind their products. Because of this, I personally will not be buying anymore of their products, so please be aware if you purchased these chews, that they are not refundable if your pups does not like them.

Definitely see improvements in both our dogs
I just ordered our second tub. I bought it for our 8 yo doxie who had spinal surgery a couple of years ago. The surgeon had recommended fish oil added to his food, but he refused to eat it. I got this in hopes it could help relieve some ache to his joints. He does seem to be a little less grumpy on rainy days now (my only inkling that he might be uncomfortable) and he's been a little more active daily. We've been giving it to both dogs -- and definitely notice an improvement in their coats. They're softer and shinier -- and our Chihuahua scratches herself a lot less. She's a major shedder and that's improved, too. Both were a little slow to chew these -- the smell is a bit strong -- but once they finally tasted them, they're now excited to get them each morning after their walk.

Different product
The product ingredient and the percentages have changed. I watch my dog nutrition very carefully. While, it still says made in the USA, at the very bottom. It says some ingredients are outsourced. We know where that outsource comes from if they don’t list it, China. I have bought this product 25 times and I am switching brands today. Maybe they changed it because too many people complained that it was crumbly!so what? Just pick it up and put it in your hand and the dog will lick it off your hand, good grief. Now they’re adding potato starch and all kinds of stuff that is not healthy for the dog. You may have got your wish that it’s not as crumbly at the cost of your dogs nutrition.
