Great product. Long enough for deep grease pot. And the guide inside explains what the screw on the back is for. Never knew before so definitely worth it.

Candy thermometer needed for making chewy praline. The one we had didn't have the 'pan clip' which is very necessary. This is a winner.

Did not pass boil test 100% but got close enough for my purposes. It’s supposed to measure 100C at a rolling boil but did not hit 100. Also, when my digital thermometer, which is pretty accurate, measures 158F, this thermometer measures only 150. So, it’s not precise.That being said, I’m using these for a candle making class with kids which is not an exact science most of the time. I like how the thermometers hang off the edge of my pot with the clips. That’s nifty. Arrived super fast and was packed well. I want my students to measure temperature using analog measurements so these suit my purposes perfectly. I would buy these again.

Imagine no electronics to fail, battery to replace, lasts decades, and it tells you the actual temperature. Amazing what technology cannot replace

It works okay (after calibration), but it really needs more numbers on it. I have a thermometer with a much smaller dial that has numbers in 25-degree increments, while this large-dial thermometer has only 50-degree increments. Makes it harder to read exact temps.To calibrate, put the stem in boiling water, then use a small adjustable wrench (or even pliers) to turn the nut under the dial to 212F.
