It really works for a male dog!!
Wow! This really works! Our sweet 13 year old male Dalmatian has CHF and cancer, and was having accidents at night while he slept. : ( We tried a number of other things first (see below), but none of them worked. This is the ONE! It's designed well, has an adjustable fit (and you don't have to make it uncomfortably tight to keep it on) and is made with quality materials. He doesn't even mind wearing it! We use a liner with it, because it wicks the urine away from his skin and minimizes washings. A tip I got from other reviewers...Don't waste your money on the liners that you can order with this, just get incontinence pads or maxi-pads (we use the store brand incontinence pads). I think the issue some reviewers had with sizing may be that dogs (like people) have different weight distribution and body shapes. If your dog is short and wide (i.e. english bull-dog or similar), maybe use the waist measurement more than overall weight? In our case, he's 70 pounds and the XL fits well.Prior to ordering this, we had tried (and returned!) Top Paw disposable doggie diapers, the Top Paw Reusable Diaper, and the Top Paw Male Wrap from the pet store. Our dog is 70 lbs, and we bought the XL on all but the male wrap, which only goes up to Large. None of them worked! The first two were clearly for female dogs (too short to cover his boy parts) and the male wrap worked better (with a Poise pad), but slipped off every night. So glad we found this!

A Life Saver
I just ordered my fourth one of these diapers. I have a dog who has a malignant tumor in her urethra - this caused her to lose her "early warning system" when she has to pee, and she just isn't making it to the door anymore. She also needs to pee pretty frequently. For a couple of months we were running around after her - jumping up the moment she jumped up to try to get her out the door. I was so hesitant to go the diaper route. A big black lab wearing a diaper just seemed odd. I was so wrong. Life is simpler now. We see her assume the position and pee right into the diaper (which we attach a Poise pad to). We just let her go ahead and pee. No more frantic runs to try to get her out the door, no more concerns in the car. Even if she has a bowel movement - it isn't too bad - the diaper seems to have a bit of room in the bottom of it that it sort of falls down and doesn't smash up against her hair. Sometimes a bit will get on the diaper - so I have to wash it, but it's not bad. Also, if she is lying in her bed and pees, it will not all go into the Poise pad. It will go out the side and get the diaper wet - so again - I have to wash the diaper. I have some weewee pads in her bed, so that captures the pee that leaks out. It's all good - much much much easier than it was before the diaper.Size is important - my dog is about 55lbs. I had originally ordered an XL for her, and it can slip down and become positioned incorrectly. The LARGEs I have ordered fit much better - nice and snug, no slipping.

Durable, Machine Washable Female Dogs
WORTH the Money. I compared these to 6 or more brands and these are the quality, and durability you are needing. My Shih tsu girl is 14yrs old. Her frequent accidents on my carpeted home is 8-9 times a day. I use these because they conform easily to her bottom and hold the feminine hygine pads, (ladies; Poise #6, cut in half) I use to absorb the pee. In this way, I can keep her dry, never worry about cleaning messes, and having purchased multiples over time, (subscribe and save) can throw ones needing washing in the hamper to launder later. THIS WILL NOT PREVENT HER FROM DROPPING A STOOL ON YOUR FLOOR ! Life isn't perfect.

Nice quality but...
Very small size, barely fits my 7 lb female bichon in a size small. I was so disappointed to find that a sanitary napkin will not stick to the fabric/material this is lined with. Using it w/o one means I have to wash constantly which is very inconvenient. I'd have to have more than one so I have one for her to wear while washing the other. :( They are a great color and well made.

Works great after some "tweaks"
I have a 60+ lb. 1 1/2 year old female lab. We needed something to protect our house while she is in heat and honestly, I wondered if she would keep this thing on, but I was willing to try. She's a typical lab and full of energy (and doesn't like to wear ANYTHING but a collar!). She definitely wasn't crazy about putting the diaper on since you have to slip their tail through the hole and labs have pretty long tails, so keeping her still long enough to do that was a challenge in itself. The diaper fit her really well, but after a few minutes of rolling around and being crazy, the two little Velcro strips would slip and it would get out of whack. The way the diaper is made, there is one long strip of the soft side of the Velcro, but just two really small strips of the "hook" side. This makes it very "adjustable to size" but doesn't make it hold too well with any activity. So, I bought some more Velcro and sewed two long "hook" strips to maximize the area that gets velcroed. Now, it doesn't slip AT ALL and stays on extremely well. It was a little extra trouble, but this was my best option since diapers for the larger breed dogs aren't as easy to find. I've washed the diaper several times and it seems like it's going to hold up really well for a long time. Also, if you don't want to wash them every day, just put a regular "panty-liner" in there and it works great.

Molto buone

Great for older dog.
Got this for my older female dog who seems to be leaking when she is asleep. Was washing blankets and beds every morning. This has been big help as keeps things contained. Washes well. Easy to put on.

Much less stress now that we have these. A note about washing - ...
As my 9lb dog has reached her golden years, we have come to rely on these diapers. We have 5 of them (size small), this allows me to always have some clean and dry plus one that she's wearing while others are in the wash. Over the last 2 years that we've been using these, I've done a combination of handwashing (when I needed a clean one faster) and machine washing. They have held up very well, the shape hasn't changed and the velcro is still just as good. One thing I will note about washing - I found I need to run them under the tap for a minute before I throw them in the washer to get the bulk of the pee out. If I don't do this, they come out of the washer with a bit of a smell. But, if I rinse them quickly first, they smell totally brand new after washing. They hold quite a bit of pee and for during the day they never leaked on the carpet or her bed etc. Now her incontinence has gotten worse and she pees in her bed during the very early morning. Since this is a big pee, it does leak on to her bed some mornings. I have started using puppy pads on top of her bed, with a towel on top and that stops the pee from soaking in to her bed. I don't feel this is the fault of the diaper, because during the day/evening it is able to hold her pee without leaking. But a large volume from overnight does leak a bit. I never tried inserting an extra pad (wasn't sure where to buy those?).I did try one other brand of diaper and I found this one was more comfortable for her to wear and fit well enough that it doesn't leak normal volumes of pee.By the way, a few times she had a "#2" accident and it actually ended up in her diaper, although how that happened I don't know because it's not supposed to work like that. But overall, if your dog is having #2 accidents, I don't think this would help much.I highly recommend these diapers and if you are going back and forth, let me tell you that they take the stress of accidents down at least 75%! I was getting very stressed scrubbing the carpet and constantly watching her out of the corner of my eye - these help immensely.
