New interface is worse than the older model unit from 2017
Had to replace my older Lorex 4k NVR unit when the hard drive went out. It was a 2017 model. This newer model manufactured in March of 2023 has a worse user interface than the older model. The playback is very had to see. The menu options are more disorganized than the older software version.

Really nice upgrade to the NVR616 it replaced
This a very nice unit. Many upgrades to the firmware. Much better customer interface, easier install, and VERY little programming when used as a replacement. (cameras apparently held a bunch of the programming) Convenient web access, "things" just seem much easier to locate compared to the old unit, however, unit only came with a single 3TB drive. I ordered two 4TB drives WD purple drives from AMAZON. Extremely simple to remove the 3TB and install the two 4TB drives. Didn't have to format the drives, the N863A63B immediately just showed the two new drives and updated the total storage space, and just began recording. I changed DHCP to the old IP, no problem there. The old unit apparently was hit with some kind of power surge. (after 5 years(NVR616)) It took out the drive and Ethernet port. I was able to re-partition and set "EXT4" on the old drive but couldn't get the Ethernet port working again. The new one is installed now on an APC. Using the new 3TB and the old 3TB drives as backups now.I didn't like the switch to 3TB Seagate Skyhawk drives in the new NVR. Of course I installed the two 4TB WD drives, but I had trouble formatting it EXT4 for backup. I called the Seagate manufacturer tech support. They almost immediately said they don't support EXT4. "W H A T !" I don't think the guy knew what he was talking about, but I got tired of messing around with trying EXT4. I grudgingly use NTFS on the SkyHawk drive. (The old WD 3TB that was in the original machine came right up in GPT and EXT4) But with all that, I digress...Both web access and iphone access are spectacular and give access to all important features I've tried so far. Web access is just like you're sitting at the console. It's that good and very complete. (I run LINUX OS on my PC's for those that run a similar OS)I like this new NVR very very much and view it as a nice improvement over what I had. I'm just happy to have all my cameras recording again.

Waste of money. Interface is still old school.
I wouldn't waste your time or money on this NVR. I purchased to replace a 10+ year old lorex. This unit is ever so slightly marginally better. The interface still leaves a lot to be desired. It is obvious they are not using surveillance professionals to provide guidance of what things need to look like and those people communicate with programmers who know what a rich up to date user interface looks like. This stuff reminds me of a 30 year old UI with some little touches to make it look like something rich but far from it. Sorry Lorex and FLIR but you guys keep missing the mark and keep marketing like you are doing something when you're just spinning your wheels and charging people for vaporware.

Nice NVR
This is a nice recorder. I have the Fusion N842A82 in my own home surveillance system but I installed a N863A63B for a customer and by comparison, this one is heavier duty with more options. Of course it has the 16 channels over the 8 that I have but also 2 drive bays w/the option to mirror 2 8TB drives vs my single bay, 6TB limitation. The N842A82 suits me but if I had it to do over again, I'd get the kit w/8 cameras and the N863A63B NVR. As well, the geek in me likes it enough I may upgrade just for the drive options.

Lorex Apple TV App does not work
DO NOT BUY! Want to view multiple cameras from your Apple TV? Nope! It broke for everyone on iOS 15.4 and their poor support refuses to fix it.
