## Description

Product description Oil Catch Can Series 350ml Oil Catch Can High Percompatible Air Oil Separator Oil Catch Can Oil Catch Can Kit

Review: Exceptional high quality billet aluminum CNC machined parts.... A few lousy parts including the hose.... - I ordered three (3) of these and installed two on both of my cars; one on ny 2012 Prius "v" and another on my 2016 Nissan Versa Note. The quality of the the billet T6061 aluminum components is exceptional. The cup is made from a multistage deep draw process like that used to make oxygen and scuba high pressure tanks. It's wall is thicker than it needs to be. The outside is still precision machined for a near perfect match to the valve body. Having been a machinist in manufacturing processes and an auto mechanic for many years, I can tell quality when I see it. At $36 delivered by desertcart Prime, these oil catch cans are an exceptional bargain. Yes, the vinyl hose in junk. I replaced it with the recommended 3/8 inch gas line hose. The fittings are also high quality CNC "ORB" or (o ring on boss) hydraulic quality fittings. The O rings supplied are undersized for the fittings supplied. I replaced the low quality undersized O rings with Viton ones. There was no O ring on the dipstick, while there is a channel to take one. I placed a correctly sized Viton O ring in the channel, so that it would seal correctly. Instead of the worm drive band clamps, I used OEM quality 5/8 inch constant spring tension hose clamps for the entire installation. The Hillman brand was also purchased on desertcart.com. Since some of the component nipples on the hoses are plastic, worm drive band clamps exert perssure points on plastic that would eventually damage those fittings. That's why constant even tension spring clamps are suppied as OEM equipment, The install on the Prius "v" was fitted with custom made stainless steel strip brackets fashioned to fit the OEM mount in the space left by the removal of the original filter box to install the HPS cold air intake that I purchased last year from desertcart.com. On both installs, I repositioned the OEM PCV hose and connected it with the 5/8 clamps to hone nipples that I custom machine from black PEEK (polyeitheretherketone) plastic. Those who do not have machine tools can use commercially available hose nipples. I would highly recommend this oil catch can to any user. A friend of mine liked the photos of the Prius"v" install so much, that I sent him a prepared set with the correct brackets, hoses and clamps, that he installed it in 30 minutes.
Review: Great Value. - Compared various products and prices for the oil catch cans and chose the Ruien 0046. Read the reviews and was a little skeptical of this product as reviews were mixed, but liked the price. No disappointments. Really a quality item. Well made and a heavy piece. Comes with 6 line fittings (3 for inlet & 3 for the outlet) that can be matched to whatever hose size you might use. Also is included is some teflon tape to wrap on the threads of the fittings to create a tight seal. The supplied hose is a thin wall flexible plastic. I can see how in some applications it might collapse. So consider this a "generic" hose, but you may find yourself going to the parts store to get a hose that fits your application, not only with a matching ID, but also in length depending on where you locate the can - so I don't see this as a "negative" point to be considered. A stainless steel scouring pad is included that goes inside the canister. The lower section that will capture the oil screws on and off and is sealed with a large rubber o-ring at the base of the threads. The Inlet and Outlet ports are well marked. Has a dipstick that screws into the top and can be easily unscrewed to check the oil fill level of the can. No o-ring is used to seal it as it has a machined taper at the base which tightens securely into the top plate to create a good seal. Nice shiny black exterior finish. A basic side mount bracket is screwed to the top section. It might work as is, or you may have to fabricate up another bracket to mount on your car and then mount the can to it. If you are adding something like this, then you know how to fabricate if needed. No odd smells or oily parts. Did not see any machined chips, but I will flush and blow it out which I would do anyway prior to installation. So I think this is a great value for the size and price, very complete in application & installation, and am very please with what I received. I would buy again if needed for another vehicle.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: How long of a piece of hose is included?**
A: Don’t bother using the hose included. It’s cheaper than a garden hose. Go to Napa or Pepboys and get around 3-4 feet fuel line (bring the hose that attaches to the PCV). For my Gen Coupe I needed a 3/8 and 1/2 hose.

**Q: I have a 2006 5.7 charger. How can i mount this?**
A: I have a 2006 Chrysler 300 SRT8. There is a small metal tab attached to the engine bay on the passenger side which I used to bolt in the catch can using a piece of 90 degree garage door hanger bar I picked up from Home Depot which I cut to size. I then used a 3/8 inch bolt with a locking nut and washers just to make sure it does not vibrate off. For the mounting bracket which came with the catch can itself, I attached the two longer Hex bolts through the frame I fabricated, and bolted them on with some washers. I also had to drill a 3/4 inch hole very carefully, so as not to go through the top of the hood itself, on the inside where the top of the dipstick hit since there was not a lot of clearance once the hood was fully closed. It takes a little bit of effort, but for me it works great

**Q: What does this thing do?**
A: Its good for an older motor that has a lot of piston blow-by. Most PCV systems have a pcv valve that attaches to one valve cover and connects it to the vacuum of the intake manifold. And the other side just has a straight hose that connects the other valve cover to the intake tube before the throttle body.
The side with the PCV valve is more to suck out blow-by gases while the engine is idling. The straight hose side is only active when the throttle plate is opened to really suck out air under higher load. For my motor with 300k miles that straight hose side is the one that sucks out the most oil and blows it all over my throttle plate and intake tube. Down the intake and into the combustion chambers. Where it fowls up the catalytic converters.
So catch can still allows the gases to be sucked out of the crankcase side of the motor back into the intake. Just w/o the extra oil.
Idk about turbo applications so much. I figure its probably similar to old worn out motors? Where the forced induction either creates harder vacuum suction or more blow-by to the crankcase or maybe both so the results are the same as an engine with worn piston rings.

**Q: does it come with instructions as to how to install?**
A: Been a while since my install, if they came with instructions, out was a small piece of paper. Basically you take the pcv side to the "in" and the "out" goes to your intake. If you're installing on a turbo setup, you want to get a check valve to put in between the intake and canister. I also bought better hoses for mine. The supplied hoses "off gas" / stink. The catch can itself is very nice especially for the price

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Well worth the $25
*by B***S on September 5, 2019*

So, I installed this piece on my 2000 Ford Lightning F150. After seeing the sticker shock on some of the aftermarket air/oil separators, I decided that there was no way I was going to fork over the money to get one of those set ups. Firstly, the catch can itself is nice. It has a baffled area at the inlet, and the inlet is completely isolated from the outlet internally so there is no alternate path for the air or oil to travel. The dipstick is a nice touch, and despite it not having an O-ring it seals up perfectly. I did not experience the nasty smell or find any metal shavings like some others did. I give this unit 4 stars simply because of the catch can itself. The reason I did not give 5 stars is because the hoses and fittings leave a lot to be desired. The fittings are okay, and they work well enough, but they honestly feel like they are made of plastic. Having said that, I am currently using them and they are doing their job. However, the hoses are absolute trash. The hose is a very soft rubber with no reinforcement whatsoever, and it will collapse with engine vacuum alone which is a big problem. Get yourself 4 or 5 feet of 1/2" fuel hose that is reinforced from a local auto parts store and you are in business. Overall, I would buy this again and I am considering adding one to the driver side valve cover as well just to be extra safe and because it is cheap modification.
