Installed easy I'd say it does cut 8db but more importantly it cuts the high pitch whine way down. Fit my 4 ton Carrier with an LG compressor well. Pretty easy install if you are handy.

I put this on the compressor and now the fan is the loudest thing, even after swapping in a quiet fan blade. Great product!

I have a 4 ton Exterior Payne ac unit. Noise level measured prior to installation of the insulation unit was 68 dB. After installation, it was 66 dB. It is still quieter so I’m keeping it. Installation process was relatively easy. This is my opinion but I think the primary reason for not reducing the noise level as much as it was advertised is due to the following reason. Overall, the insulation blanket is slightly big and although it covers the entire compressor, the fit is rather loose. I didn’t want to use duct tape wrap it tight. By the way, I used NIOSH SLM app on my iPhone to measure dB.

It fit ok and did what it was supposed to. However our AC was not that loud to begin with and it did not make much difference. From standing 5 feet away, it decreased the noise from 61.6 dBA to 60.1 dBA.

Works as advertised and noticeably reduces the compressor noise, leaving the more pleasant fan noise as the dominant sound of the outdoor AC u it. It’s pre-cut to fit around the suction and discharge tubes of Copeland and Alliance compressors perfectly, and sits very neatly when installed. There’s another brand that touts their two-piece design that folds around the compressor, and while it might work better for older reciprocating compressors with an oval case, it’s sloppy and loose compared to this design. I removed it in favor of this one for a scroll compressor. I installed this sound blanket on a 4-ton, 2-stage Copeland compressor in a Lennox system, and on a 2-ton Alliance compressor in a Trane/American Standard heat pump. Trimming about an inch off the “hem” of the blanket made it fit the 2-ton as neatly as the 4-ton, which was perfect right out of the box.

Should have purchased years ago. After cleaning compressor and tightening screws, this helped lower the decibel level by half. My neighbors are actually talking to me now (they might have been before but I couldn't hear them).

This purchase was well worth it as my AC system is now quieter than new ones in the market. I did not know this existed until looking at you tube reviews.

The description said it would fit my compressor size, even a slightly bigger one…. Not even close. Had to cut and modify which defeats the sound deadening design. Added a bunch of mass loaded vinyl on top a taped it up. Works pretty good after significant modifications
