Different cover but in good condition
The cover is different than what it was said to be but other than that, the book was in good condition. The book contains all 4 of the original comics and is separated by chapters. There's also a really cool art gallery at the end of the book.

Such a Great Book
Such a great series, It's an essential read if you're reading Angel: After The Fall, it covers Spike's time after the final episode of the Angel TV Series. You might find yourself confused about Spike if you don't read this when reading Angel: After The Fall. I would say this should be read after the first four issues of Angel: After The Fall, the artwork is not great, it's the same as the artwork on the Angel book, but it's still good. The writer really did Spike justice, the dialogue and narrative was on point. It was great seeing Illyria and Spike together!I only recommend this if you're reading or if you've read Angel: After The Fall, this is very much canon and the writer does spike justice. I was very satisfied with how the item arrived, no shelf wear or damage anywhere. I wish this book had more than only #4 issues but hey you gotta take what you get I guess.

Full of Spike Goodness
Considering there's minimal Joss Whedon involvement, this volume captures the essence of Spike. The cover art is beautiful, as is he artwork inside, and the book has quality binding. This volume covers what happened to Spike and Illyria following the series finale of Angel and before the events of Angel: After the Fall. Story wise, it's a lot like Angel: After the Fall: it's very intense in comparison with the actual TV series, but I like it. They are able to go places they would not be able to go in syndicated low-budget television show... Like Hell, for example. If you're a Spike fan, and are comfortable with comic books as a medium, this is a great buy.

Nostalgia for my favorite characters! Great read.
This graphic novel talks about the events that lead up to where we see Spike in After the Fall: Vol 1. You can read this before or after you read After the Fall: Vol 1. and Vol. 2, neither gives away spoilers. Spike was never one of my favorite characters but he's really developed and after this I love him much more. He cares so much for Illyria and Fred. It was really good!

Bloody Good
Gorgeous hard-cover graphic novel, though the inside illustrations aren't quite as gorgeous as the cover. My only complaint, it's set in "hell" so it's dark, like really dark. There are dead humans and bones and stuff all over the place. I dunno ... just thought maybe Soulful Spike would be a little more put off by all the dead people.

It's Spike, in perfect form
If you're a lover of Spike, this is for you. The writing is strong, the artwork is pretty good. This takes place after the Spike story set in volume 2 of Angel: After the Fall (First Night).Spike haters (hard to imagine that such creatures exist, but they do) would do well to avoid this title. Highly recommended for the rest of Buffy/Angel/Spike fans.

I did not like this book
No, I did not like this book. Why? Mostly because our Champion seemed to revert back into a darker state and is penned as being so in love with Fred that he will "curl up into a fetal position" if he loses her again?! Please........."curl up in a fetal position" if he loses Fred, again? That is really quite a STRETCH! Buffy, Yes, but Fred, no. In Angel season 5 he cared about her, but NEVER gave us the impression that he was SO in love with her. Also, in Angel season 5, we were distinctly told that there was absolutely nothing left of Fred. Everything that had been Fred was crushed by Illyria. So, again, did not like this book. If you are a Spuffy shipper, skip this book.

A strong outing
As a fan of the story arc of the Angel: After the Fall comics this one was a no brainer. Continuing on from the second volume of the books, this takes us through the story of Spike and Illyria from after the first night upto the events in the first volume of After the fall. The story reads as a stand alone though does help to give understanding to the motivitations of Spike in the main arc where he understandable has a smaller role to play. The stories flow well together and let the character shine to his best.Sadly, for me, the art let's this one down with it's inconsistency. Some of the art at the back shows what this could have been. That all said this is definitely worth spending an enjoyable hour on.

Brian Lynch's characterisation of Spike is spot on and the art is really very good (LOVED the cover)
Fills in the gaps between Angel season 5 and Angel:after the Fall for some characters and especially for Spike.Brian Lynch's characterisation of Spike is spot on and the art is really very good (LOVED the cover)! Quite some humour is in there and a couple of well created side characters. The plot is okay but not something really special, hence the loss of one star. Also, it is rather short for me but I won't kick another star off for that (though you have been warned).A must read for any Spike fan and a good read for any Buffyverse comic fan.
