Design ToscanoNetherland Knothole Gang Gnome Statue: Gerda

While I am not inclined to ding the manufacturer for what appears to be a mishandled package, the gnome’s pointy top is less than an inch from the cardboard box and comes right thru the styrofoam and cardboard with the slightest bad treatment (USPS). Even though I never took the gnome out of the box (pix show as far as I got) I can tell that the gnome is a quality piece. It feels more like plaster and fine cement than resin. I was expecting cheapo resin. The package is marked Highly Fragile but DT should use 2” more packaging on top. The product is made in China.

I really looked forward to receiving this Euro gnome and planned to accentuate our tidy flower garden with the “good day” little lady. But things worked out differently than I had expected.You see, when I actually received the statue, I was delighted that the height was high enough to be definitely noticeable outside in the garden. However, I was immediately disappointed in her weight. Yes, she does look like a piece of work carved out of stone, which is partially true since she is made out of crushed stone bonded on “high-quality resin.” RESIN, folks. Resin is lightweight. As far as I am concerned, there is no way this gnome goes outside; she’d be knocked down in a week with the many high winds we experience in our neck of the woods.Then the brainstorm fairy gave me a great idea as to where to put the whimsical-appearing lady, and, in the final analysis, I never knew the vestibule in our house was so empty before she arrived on the scene! As evidenced by the attached photos, she gives you a sense that it’s going to be a “good day” with her hanging out so close by. Where has she been all our lives? 4.5 stars!

I like the gnome. He looks cute in my garden. I named him Henry. He looks very rustic -- though my husband thinks he needs a coat of paint. He is very tall -- 39 inches! This I love. He is adorable. BUT, I don't know if I would spend $80 for him. He seems a bit fragile. I planted him firmly in the garden, but I am afraid the first big windstorm that topples him over might break him. I guess we shall see.

I got this gnome for my ma-in-law because she likes yard chotchkies and knick knacks so I snuck this little guy into the bushes. She found it and was really thrilled with it due to its unique size and length. It is finely made and really cute. It makes a nice accent to your garden or bushes. Just put it by your front bushes so no one steals it!!!

My wife and I have a huge home garden and like to add a little personality to it with various figurines and objects all around inside. So when I saw this Design Toscano Netherland Knothole Bastiaan Gang Gnome Statue, I decided to give it a try to see how it would look in there. The Amazon description made it look like it would be made of quality materials making it durable and lasting. You would think that with an $80+ price tag. But you would be sorely wrong.When this thing arrived, the head was completely chopped off revealing how fragile this thing really is. It looks like the quality of a 6-year old doing paper mâché for a class project. The design and painting of this thing is a lot less professional than I expected from such a pricey item. This gnome is supposed to represent having a "good day" but this thing will provide anything but that for you. I cannot believe they actually tried to pull this off as an item on Amazon. It perhaps cost $4-5 for materials to make and is not what you'd expect in the least. You could get any number of polyresin or rock gnomes that would be a much better alternative to this one. Don't waste your money on this!

Gerda is adorable. She is a yard high. She looks very cute in my garden. I really like her bowl. I could put birdseed in it but presently I dont' want the birds in my garden. I love how tall she is. I have her boyfriend -- and he fell down last night in a windstorm -- first time. I was afraid he would break. But he didn't. So I think Gerda is pretty sturdy. She has some weight to her. The finish looks rough and is supposed to look rough. But I will say she and the other gnome look like they have primer on them and need to be painted. I don't mind the finish but I know some would.

Cute Netherlandic-girl gnome for your garden. As usual Toscano makes a quality product-nearly all my really fun lawn ornaments have been Toscano and this is no exception. I was a bit concerned it might break being somewhat long and thin, however it shipped and arrived in one piece. This is a nice conversation starter, and would even work for the Christmas Holidays. there is also a male gnome in the same style.I would recommend this for those who like old-world charm. Gerda is great.

This is a very adorable garden decoration, even though my husband thinks it's a bit creepy. It's quite tall and has a lovely weathered patina. It's not too heavy but not too plastic feeling either.
