Corn Snakes in Captivity (Professional Breeders Series) [Don Soderberg] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. Corn Snakes in Captivity (Professional Breeders Series) Review: Very informative - I bought this book because my college roommate and I are considering adopting baby corn snakes within the next year. This book has a lot more information packed into it than I thought. the author goes very in depth, but not to the point where it feels redundant or boring, but just the right amount of wording and details. He advises his readers on what supplies he recommends buying, handling techniques and about corn snake bites (i.e. what it feels like, how likely it would be to get bitten, how to avoid being bit, what to do in the case of being bit, and the repercussions of the snake biting you), signs of a sick or unhappy corn snake, and what to do in the cases that your snake shows one of those symptoms. He even goes in to inform his readers about the history of the corn snake and where they generally live. Pictures are included of a variety of different morphs, so you can kind of get a feel for what type of patterns and color themes appeal to you. What I liked about it the most is that the book was written so that people of almost any reading level can enjoy it. There are plenty of pictures to grab the attention of young and old minds alike (I myself have a short attention span and I found the pictures to be intriguing and educational). I would recommend this book to anyone looking to learn about corn snakes as an animal, pet, and/or companion. It can be used for educational purposes or just a fun read just the same. All around this is a great book! Review: Excellent book - Excellent book, loaded with good information. Highly recommended for anyone looking at getting a corn snake.

Can’t recommend enough
Keep in mind that this is not a foolproof book with everything you need to know about having a corn snake and you should definitely do a lot more research before bringing an animal into your home. Having said that, this is a great book to start with. It is really easy to read and has very clear explanations for a lot of the care needed for corns. A few weeks after purchasing, and doing other research, we brought home a corn. I’ve gotten tons of information from a lot of different sources and some of what I’ve heard even from my vet conflicts with this book. But if you use your best judgment and figure out what works for you, your family, and ultimately your snake’s personality and preferences then you will be ok. (Pic of Flame Princess included)

For the corn snake owner or soon-to-be, this book is worth it from the pictures alone...
Just getting into the whole snaking thing, and I've been looking for some decent books to get some insight on the various pet-friendly breeds, their temperaments, care tips, and such. I got this book and haven't had time to read a word yet, but already I like what I see. Of all the snake related books I've seen so far, this one is very well organized and most notably makes adroit use of pictures and subtitles throughout. By merely thumbing through it I can already tell this will be reference material I come back to several times after reading it and applying what I learn to snake care, and the pictures will make it very easy to find exactly what I'm looking for when I do. So I give it 4-stars out of the gate. Maybe the text itself is absolutely horrible, but I doubt it considering what I've seen so far. Update: ok so now I've actually read the book and am not disappointed in the least. While it may not be as thick as some others, the content is succinct and orderly, easy to read and understand. As mentioned above, the pictures are very useful in and of themselves, and are not simply random snake-related pictures but very relevant to the text and illustrate the various points quite well. You can tell the years of experience of the author come through in the information and opinions shared in this book. It also strikes a nice balance between the needs of the casual snake owner and more advanced owner/breeder type.

The #1 Corn Snake Expert
Corn snakes should be your first pet reptile. For an experienced keeper of reptiles, I ask you to set aside the "beginner snake" tag, set aside the low cost. Just look at a wild type corn snake objectively - it is one of the most beautiful snakes in the world. This book is the definitive guide, by the #1 expert in the species. It's well written and simple to follow, everything a beginning keeper or breeder cold need. One thing I would like to have more fleshed out is the section on genetics. A more comprehensive list of known genes and a description/history of each would be welcome. Such a list will become increasingly incomplete over time, but it would still be a good guide to the most common morphs.

No better care guide out there
I should have written this review a long time ago, but here I am now. This book is the most complete care guide for corn snakes. I had just gotten done reading this book, and my corn snake had a run in with tape. In this book the topic of snakes and tape was covered, and I knew that we would not be able to remove the tape without baddly hurting the snake unless we too care to get the tape off safely. This book is an easy ready, and if you care about your pet snakes you will like to read this book.

Good read, compact and informative.
At first I was a little disappointed in seeing how thin the book was when I got it. But after several hours of reading through it, WOW it's packed with a lot of information. Don has done a great job writing so much information in a concise manner and the photos are a plus. The only regret I have is I realized Don sells the book on his website and I could have purchased an autographed one from there. Other than that,as I say in most of my reviews, Great job Amazon on the great quick delivery and customer service !!!

I decided to buy the Kindle version of this book before getting my very first Corn Snake, and I'm very glad that I did. It is packed with lots of easy to read, useful information. It discusses habitat, care needs and even goes into morphs and breeding! Incredibly useful little book and is something I will continue to refer back to as well.
