After returning the knock off and ordering again - this time choosing to order from desertcart US at greater cost - I got the genuine item. The genuine straps are good quality and work well. There is nice soft padding in the loops (where the knock off just used black webbing) and the strap used is nice and wide at 3" (unlike the knock off which was under 2"). The strapping also uses a nice sturdy weave, definitely much better in every way than the knock off versions and worth the extra. They work well. One thing to be mindful of though is that the instructions warn against exposing them to UV or high temperatures else the straps will weaken. If you live somewhere hot like us in northern Queensland, you don't want to go leaving them in the back of a ute or inside a vehicle.
