I recently acquired this antique zebra hide and knew it would be tricky to style, so of course I searched the internets for inspiration. Admittedly, I wasn’t thrilled with the idea of a faux leather cushion. I feared it stiff and cheap-looking against a top grain leather sofa, but I must say, it’s quite well made! The brown, Italian-made, leather curio tray sitting atop the art books and the cushion are a lovely color match. The brown “leather” on the lumbar pillow is ever so slightly distressed, lending even more authenticity to it. I love that this pillow allows me to go beyond the typical black/white styling of a room with a zebra hide, and into the realm of earth tones. It also adds a bit of pattern without clashing or making the space look disjointed. I could not be more delighted! Here’s a photo of the pillow in the space I designed.
