We ordered the second pair because she lost a strap and they are beginning to look beat up, but that is after two varsity seasons and one collegiate season. She says you will still feel a hard shot, but much of the sting is taken out of it. She is remarkably mobile in these, does not affect her running much. I asked her about the 'pads vs. no pads' controversy - she thinks goalies that don't wear them are insane. She is much more confident and will not hesitate to step in front of a shot with these on. The attached photo shows the product in action. (Yep - that was a save.) The ankle protection is good, but there is nothing for the top of the foot. Quite frankly we have not found anything that works well there. This a good product that is well made and built to take a beating for years.
