A simple part that your engine needs
The part works and fits exactly like the old one. I installed this on a 2007 Nissan Frontier and it was a little tricky to get to, since it screws into the back of the passenger side cylinder head. I removed a few connectors from the wiring harness to give me some better access and just cut the pcv hose, since I was replacing it anyway, That made it easer to remove. The part shouldn't be tight, as it is plastic. I put a large socket on it and was able to turn it by hand, which was good since there was no way I was getting a ratchet on it. I used the same method to install the new one.I would recommend changing the PCV valve when you change spark plugs. That way you'll already have the intake manifold off and can get to it a lot easier.

Stuck open, not worth the hassle.
I'm diagnosing lean fuel trim errors (P0171 and P0174) on my 2013 Altima, which is typically caused by air leaks somewhere in the intake path. Another user with the same problem said he replaced his PCV valve (the third thing to try after air filter and MAF sensor) which didn't fix it, so he went on into more extensive and expensive fixes, like replacing the plenum gasket. Nothing worked. Then he replaced the cheap PCV valve with the OEM version and everything was fine. His advice - don't cheap out, get the real thing the first time.So I cheaped out and got this Beck/Arnley valve, but on arrival I shook it to listen for valve noise and blew through it - no rattle and air flows through it both ways with equal ease. The thing is stuck open. Later I dropped it on the floor and the shock unstuck it - now there is a faint rattle when you shake it, and air only flows one way - out of the air intake screw end into the hose connection.Since it can't be returned after trying it even once, I returned it and bought the OEM PCV valve from Nissan. There's no point wasting time trying to track down a problem that might be caused by a faulty new part.
