Great product, ASUS always never lets down. Reads even scratched up discs with no problems. Has a good feel to it. My only gripe is that the topside of it scratches up easily.

Yeah yeah, it’s a bit pricey. But this is ASUS, and it is everything you’ll need in a slim compact external drive; it can read, write, rewrite CDs, DVDs, and BDs. The cable is detachable, which is an enormous plus. I hate the gloss finish because of fingerprints, but doesn’t matter much, since my studio is usually dim and chill, and you can’t see them. I tried a cheaper $60 drive and it was a nightmare, with very inconsistent playback, compatibility issues, and especially a hardwired cable that was only 6” long. Like I said, sometimes you just HAVE to pay more for better. Also, it’s plug and play, no need for drivers. Comes with a ROM with bundled software, but it’s unnecessary. Everything you’ll ever need to do can be done right in VLC including ripping and burning. You must make sure that your VLC region code is set properly. Go to Tools/Preferences/Input-Codecs/Show All/Access Modules/Blu-ray/Region and voila! I mention this because mine was set by default to Region B and I needed to change it to region A.

This blu-ray player and writer works perfectly with the latest release of Ubuntu (24.04). While the device includes a USB-C compatible cable, the port on the device is a USB micro-B Superspeed port, so you'll need to use the included, very short cable to connect with it. It also includes a dual-USB-A to USB micro-B Superspeed cable so not using the USB C will cost you two USB A ports instead. Performance is good; I'm able to watch my bluray movies via VLC with no problems at all.

Can't say anything about it's burn capabilities but it's been smooth sailing watching 5 seasons of "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. " no skips or bumps

I purchased this for my granddaughter to use with her laptop. She is very pleased with it.

After 4 months it started having issues reading Blu-rays.

Compré este artículo ya que se puede usar tanto en MAC como en Windows, no requiere un software adicional en Mac para pasar música de mis discos al Apple Music. La velocidad a la que funciona diría que es normal no va muy lento ni muy rápido. He podido pasar varios CDs de música. Quisiera probarlo aún viendo películas en blueray 4K y ver cuánto se demora o si valió la pena o si se corta la película o si va muy lento. De momento cumplió mi objetivo de conectarte a la laptop y funcionar rápidamente para convertir mi música. Lo que sí me percaté es que si el disco tiene fallas o si es un disco pirata ya dañado por el uso o el tiempo no lo lee incluso si llega leer el disco y cuando lo escuches se escucha con fondo de lluvia. En discos originales se escucha muy bien la calidad del audio recomiendo usar decoder ALAC si se lee un disco en formato AIFF.
