Something from another era
I'm working as a library volunteer restoring some very old donated computer equipment that the library is planning to resell. When I lifted a printer cover that hadn't been opened in 35 years, I was astonished to encounter the ubiquitous twin spools and long, black ribbon of cloth that any high school student in the 50's or 60's would instantly recognize. Most of us haven't used a typewriter since then. But as usual, I thought of Amazon, and to my astonishment, I found several manufacturers still offer typewriter ribbons. I ordered the the T2-77B from GRC because it's made in the USA. The quality is what I expected, and it is a perfect-match to the Smith Corona ribbon I was replacing. It has good, uniform ink density. I see a few reviewers took the manufacturer to task because the product didn't fit their typewriter. I think it's a little unreasonable to fault the manufacturer of a universal ribbon with clearly-stated 2" spools when their typewriter required a smaller spool size. I intend to buy a couple more for an old Smith Corona portable I own. It's occurred to me there are plenty of forms in use today that a typewriter is still perfect for...

Works with some modification...
Edit: After a little experimentation, I have discovered that by wrapping cardboard from a cereal box around the post before inserting the spool, I can get these to fit tightly so that they work correctly. Fairly easy fix, and now they work very well. So I've increased my rating to 4 stars.I also bought this ribbon for my 1947 Royal Quiet Deluxe and like the previous reviewer said, the spool is a little too big, so it doesn't rotate correctly... what a waste of money!

Used for Royal Safari
I purchased this ribbon for use with my 1960s Royal Safari typewriter. It fits & works well, though I've noticed it drying out quicker than the previous ribbon I had- However this could be due to the change in climate when I moved, and perhaps I have left the machine out of its case more than usual.I was pleasantly surprised to so easily find a ribbon to fit my machine, especially at this reasonable price. I would recommend it to others.

Works perfectly if you don't mind a manual spool rewind for your manual typewriter.
I have Remington Quiet-Riter MiracleTab, and after using the same ribbon for 5+ years I needed a new one. The typewriter has some old metal spools on it (the originals?) that I'm not keen to give up, so when I ordered this I was planning on winding my own spools. I snipped the ends off this one and wound it up in a few minutes. All that to say: good product. The new ink is very dark and lovely. I don't know if the spools would actually fit this typewriter, but if you don't mind spending a few extra minutes winding your own spools, it will work just fine for any machine you have.

Perfect! Ribbon for 1974 Sears typewriter.
I can't find this in stores anymore, but have saved my beloved old $30 typewriter. Now we have grandchildren here and I'm so glad I did save it. The adults laughed so hard enjoying these modern tech kids delight in an old typewriter. The seller had a clear enough site that a (smart) 13 year old understood how to compare and what to order. Shipping was just a couple days. The ribbon is as fresh and good as what we used to buy locally, way before the internet. I am so happy to see my relic be enjoyed. I would guess many people have saved their typewriters.

Works great!
My mom gave me her 1962 Royal Futura 800 for Christmas. It needed a new ribbon.... I didn't know if I would be able to find a replacement ribbon, but I figured if anyone would have it, Amazon would :-)Works just great. It would be helpful to have some installation instructions included in the package, or even just a little pictorial diagram. I managed to figure it out with some trial-and-error, but I was pretty inky by the end (the ink washed off my hands, and the exterior of the typewriter, very easily with soap & water).

As expected
As expected, though this ribbon, like a great many others, seems a bit flimsy for the older machine I will be using it in. That, however, is not a fault of the product.

Probably better on an electric typewriter
This product was purchased for a Tower model manual typewriter. It worked much than better than the old used one. My opinion, it could use a bit more ink to make a darker impression when a key is struck. I really have to strike the keys hard on this manual. It is probably designed for an electric model.
