Product arrived with one channel dead. Company would not pay for the return shipping of their faulty product.

Nice little amp, works fine, sounds good but noisy. I received one without power cable, used old computer power cable. headphones out not sufficient for full power, preamp needed. Follow up. After running this amp for 20 hours noise is still here, returning back to amazon. No power cable and noisy unit...

I have the original 4 tube S1 Miniwatt/APPJ which uses the same tubes but the tranny covers are on top whereas this unit has them on bottom. If this is same as the S1 then it is stellar. Mine has been in use for 5 years and was given 6moons highest award when first introduced. Replacing the Chinese 6P1 with Russian 6P1p-ev and swapping the 6J1 for WE403B made a significant improvement in SQ. There is zero hum with my MW. It uses a SMPS which is unusual for a SET amp. I'd give it 5 stars if I knew it was the same as the S1 which it claims to be.

This arrived today. I hooked it up really quick and was shocked instantly how it drove some inefficient(89db) bookshelves right off the bat to full volume with ease. My normal setup is a dual mono classic McIntosh that just plain sounds magical, but this little monster with its stock Chinese tubes could really sing. I love tube highs and the way soft natural tube compression brings out detail and projects vocals. It was all there; soft, floaty, silky and dynamic. I went through many CD's and had fun. This is meant as a gift for my 17yr old son, but I may need to get one of these for myself. It did have very faint hum, but you have to have your ear to the speaker while it is quiet to hear it. There's a dimmer switch nearby and that is the likely culprit. Plugged the unit into a ground loop isolator. Hum all gone. I wasn't going to let a little detail like that bother me even if I could still hear the faint hum anyways. It sounded really good for what it is. I was pleasantly surprised that my speakers had bass. I'll likely combine the unit with a powered sub. It should sound like a very big stereo then. I like that it sounded full and exciting like a tube amp normally does. For the price this thing is, it's a good way for one to experience a full tube sound. I don't think that it sounded as vibrant as my Eisenhower or Kennedy era equipment, but then again not a whole lot of modern tube gear does either. It sounded really good and for the money, I'm giving it five stars. If it doesn't last decades, I'll understand. Hopefully it doesn't have too many issues. That would be great because it does do its job well. -I came back to add to this review after using this little amp for the past month or so. I have to because it has, "broken in" and sounds very different. It went from sounding good to sounding very sophisticated. It's unreal that a cheap little amp like this has all this detail, dynamics and clarity, but it does. I started out using it along with a pair of Polk Audio Rti6 bookshelf speakers. I have many other pairs of Polk Audio speakers and it pairs best with those that have dynamic balance tweeters that sing over 27 kHz. The monitor 30's never sounded that great, but I hooked up those too. No cigar. To humor my friend, we tried his new Sony sscs5 bookshelf speakers. They are not half bad, but in no way are they comparable to the Polk Rti line. Between my friend and I, we also had some of the higher-end Polks with ring radiator tweeters, and also SonusFabers to connect. Too laid back, so we went with the Rt i6's and a small(Polk PSW10) subwoofer. Mind you, we could not turn the sub any lower than just being barely on to try to fill in the bottom. It sounded great, but not spectacular. Then one day the system just sounded a lot more open and had a much more holographic field of imaging. I was hypnotized for hours putting in disc after disc to verify what I was hearing. There wasn't much to get picky about. I've heard cheap tube amps before and they always have some kind of obvious sonic deficiency. Not these amps. All I wanted was a better room to listen to them in. Anyways, I know that this company makes a step-up model. I'd like to hear that someday. Hopefully, it sounds similar. Besides having that whole extra watt, The PA0901A 6N4+6P14 uses common tubes readily available for upgrade/replacement. The amp I'm listening to and reviewing uses some oddball 9 pin Chinese designs that have no western analog. That being said, maybe there's no new-old-stock retube these units with say, Telefunken goodness but these tubes sound flawless and are available very cheaply. I think you could retube entirely for about $25 every 5 to ten years and be quite comfortable. Anyways, that initial hum went away. There's no pops or crackling when they are idle. It's hard to believe, even after a month of listening that these amps have given just about any good tube amp a run for its money. Hopefully, I don't break these while breaking them in. After all, the system is just a starter high-fi system for my 17-yr-old son. It just seems to start near the top in terms on sound quality. These could honestly be repackaged and sold for 10-20x their price. No one would know that they are cheap Chinese tech. It doesn't really matter, it's the sound that matters and these have got it.

OMG, this is a fabulous little amp. I use it in my office with an old ipod to drive a couple of small Energy brand Take 2 speakers, and couldn't be happier with the sound. I just played some live tracks, and was blown away by the quality. I'm not driving the speakers at ear bleeding volumes, but it's plenty loud enough for my office in a professional setting. I haven't heard any buzz through the speakers at all. If you're looking to hear "the air between the strings" - and you know who you are, you're going to be disappointed. The mini2013 isn't four figure audiophile quality, but it is the perfect choice for someone on a budget who enjoys the warmth of tube sound and can't afford to replicate the Memorex advertisements from the '70's. If you're looking for a really cool looking office or dorm room amp to drive a pair of small bookshelf speakers, this is really the ticket for the price. My colleagues really like how it looks sitting on my desk as well. I couldn't be happier with this purchase. The tubes take some time to break in. I've been running this for about 10 hours a day and the sound keeps getting a little warmer each day. The tubes do get pretty hot, so be careful if you touch them.

Cute. Elegant even - especially this version with the transformers on the bottom and the 4 tubes displayed on the top - and unlike some other Chinese tube amps. It is a singled ended pentode design similar to amplifiers made by companies like Unison Research. No gaudy blue led lights to draw attention to the "tube glow", just natural genuine tube glow you can see with the lights turned low. Sound: Stock tubes have not been properly "ran in" by me as I swapped in NOS tubes almost as soon as I got the amp. NOS tubes (different from the one suggested by several hi-fi forums): Voshkod 6ZH1P-EV (for the pair of 6j1 tubes), and a pair of (English NOS) Brimar CV1862/6AQ5 via a 6AQ5 to 6P1 adapter. Hooked up to either a Little Bear P5 or "Matisse" clone tube preamp, and the sound approaches tubed high end quality. Deep, deep soundstage. Smooth, liquid highs, see-through mids, fast, tight bass. The bass in uncharacteristic of tube amps in general, which tend to be flabby and bloated, even the five thousand dollar plus offerings. Using a powered sub crossed over low can help further, as 3 watts is not alot to drive my 86dB bookshelves (a US$200+ DIY audiophile bargain in itself! - think high end ProAcs or Harbeths at 20 times the price!) Used in a modest sized room, with speakers having impedances that do not dip below 4 ohms much), and the sound is remarkably close to certain high end Italian single ended pentode amplifiers costing 20 times as much. Hope to send it to a qualified and talented tube tech to modify the capacitors to further up the SQ to greater levels of wonder. Already amazing without them, I must emphasize. Call me a proud parent who just wants to see the little guy become all that he can be :) PS. Use a quality Belden power cord with hospital grade plugs at the very least. Little guy deserves as much.

I love this amp. I use it in my office with a Brennan B2 500gb unit as the music source and set of Dayton Audio speakers. I am amazed on how well it sounds with great separation and depth coming out of what is a very low cost system. Best value for the lowest expense.
