This product did absolutely nothing to the few spots of black algae. Hand scrubbing and then rubbibg with a chlorine tab was how I deleted the algae. **Q: we drained our pool due to black algae. Can we simply scrub this on the walls? It has been empty for 3 weeks and we want to treat it and refill.** A: I would think you need to have water since this can probably damage your pool surface. It does say on the bottle not to concentrate in just one area and that the ph of water has to be 7.2-7.8 in order for this product to work. From what I read, there is no way to actually get rid of black algae forever. I kinda grows deeper and deeper into the pool walls if left untreated for a while. Even if you use algaecide, it will take care of whatever it can, but the roots will still be left not visible to the naked eye. It starts growing back as soon as the chemistry in the pool is off again and doesn't get adjusted right away. **Q: It just says to apply, does that mean while the skimmer/filter is running? Plus it killed the small amount of yellow algae. Only downside is the pool chemistry has been difficult to get back to normal. Pretty darn pricey though so believe me I try everything before I go to the Black Algaetrine and always have a bottle in the shed.
