Paranormal Fare in the Big Easy
After her mother’s mysterious disappearance from their New Orleans home, Rosie Delacroix leaves, telling no one where she’s gone. She returns six months later, determined to solve the mystery and pick up the pieces of her life. She reunites with her longtime friend, Jahane and rekindles the flame with her ex, a sexy Cajun named Julian Quibodeaux. Soon, all three are plunged into the dangerous world of dark paranormal forces.Rosie seems to question that her mother came from a long line of witches. Her reluctance to believe she’s one also is confusing, since she’s been “gifted†with dream visions. The plot is standard New Orleans paranormal fair—witchcraft, the voodoo of Marie Laveau, and loup garous, with one lively addition of a unique Guardian. Armed with her mother’s talisman and this Guardian, she should be safe from the evil forces, but the presence of questionable acquaintances has her wondering whether she’s among friends or foes. The author describes the local New Orleans cuisine and scenery artfully, and comes out of the gate name-dropping famous NOLA locations as though reading them off a list. Rosie and Jahane’s dialogue and antics, which include touristy activities such as carriage rides and ghost tours, make them seem more like innocent twenty year olds rather than women in their late twenties. It starts off a little slow but crescendos nicely, only to end in a frustrating cliff-hanger. Regardless, this is an excellent effort for first time author, Diana DuBois.

I am anxious to read the next book
This book immerses you in the French Quarter of New Orleans. It is filled with magic and mystery. From the very beginning it keeps you guessing as to what is going to happen.Rosie is a little too trusting at times. There is only one person that she interacts with in the book that she doesn't trust and by the end she trusts that person as well. She is faced with evil that is after her and yet every person that she comes into contact with becomes her friend. I would have liked to see her be a little more careful and rather than just believing everything that is told to her have her work for her answers and not always take things at face value.I love the way that the magic and practices are incorporated into the book but when most people would have doubted their sanity or outright disbelieved what was happening she just accepted it and moved on. It kept the story moving but didn't give much depth to the character.I am anxious to read the next book as it was a great story line and held my attention.

Wonderful Debut
A delightful story from debut author Diana Marie DuBois!!! When Rosie Delacroix's mom goes missing she runs away from the people and the city she loves. When she returns home she discovers that her mom was telling the truth about her being a witch and a powerful one at that. Her boyfriend Julian Quibodeaux is happy to have her home but they are both unaware that he has been cursed. Will Rosie learn to use her powers in time to save him?Ms. DuBois is a very descriptive writer. You will feel like you are walking down the streets with Rosie and Jahane. I swear I could almost smell the beignets and hear the jazz music. She also does a good job developing the characters. The friendship between Rosie and Jahane is incredible and Rosie and Julian's relationship is HOT!!! I can't wait to see what happens with Julian's curse. But my favorite character by far is Athena!!! Voodoo Vows is full of magic, steamy sex and the cutest dog you could imagine!!!

unanswered questions
love, love, loved this book! It was a page turner for me from beginning to end. In fact,i was a bit miffed when the book ended. I want more and real soon. This new writer has a great future ahead of her if she keeps putting out pages like these. I could almost smell the food and flowers and stinky decaying bog.I already miss, Athena and Rosie and Jahane and of course Julian and Derrick. So many unanswered questions. So much has happened and much much more to come.. i am so anxious...and waitingThis is the first book i have read where there is a dog as a main character. I love it! I even learned a bit about Louisiana and the customs there.

Can You Resist The Lure?
Wow! New author? First book? No way!Diana Marie DuBois| captures your imagination so thoroughly you are Rosaleigh Delacroix. The setting, character relationships, scene descriptions, dialogue, background construction, story development and pacing...none of them reveal this book as a debut novel. As you read, you find yourself ignoring the clock and rushing to get to the end, cursing yourself when you get there, and looking for ways to stalk the author until the next publication date. Can you resist the lure?
