MerrellMen's Moab 2 Mid Waterproof Hiking Boot

My husband really likes this brand of hiking boots. This was his second pair to buy. They fit great and keep his feet warm, dry, and comfortable. He says they have really great grip in rocky terrain.

I bought these for two missions - walking in state / national parks, and yard work. The serve both missions well. The fit is excellent. The boots are very comfortable and well made. Arch support is excellent, and that's important to me. These boots are heavier than the sneaker style shoe, but out in the wild you'll appreciate dry feet and excellent ankle protection. For yard work, I'm more confident the insects, debris, and the occasional baby cottonmouth I encounter won't get past them. For city walking they're probably too heavy. For real outdoor use they're great.

i think the mist durable, best fitting. And lasted. I am very hard on my shoes. And usually dont last more than a month. Merrell hiking boots by far are the best and worth every cent. Want a good fitting, comfortable boot that cause blisters. I recommend, Merrell for sure.

These fit exactly as expected and were both very comfortable during my first 10 mile hike while wearing them, and also nice and snug so that there was support on craggy rocks when my ankle was turned. The sole offered protection from the sharp rocks but was sufficiently flexible so that it was a comfortable hike.I've not had a chance to check on the effectiveness of the waterproofing, but the design of the tongue should help mitigate water from entering into the shoe if I slip while crossing a creek.Overall, I'm satisfied with the quality and price paid.FOLLOWUP: 13 months since this review. I deleted one star. I have had several occasions now to test the waterproofing and, as many have said, it's water-resistant not waterproof. It's not bad, I've had no serious issues and I do apply some waterproofing spray now and then which helps. I've stepped into creeks while crossing and have not had real wetness to deal with unless I went above the ankle and no amount of waterproofing will stop water from coming in over the top of the boot. So, all in all, I give the waterproofing 3 stars, not bad, not great but regular applications of a protective spray will help.I'm not a serious hiker, but I am a regular hiker and average 8 - 12 miles a week, so after more than a year, I've probably put about 500 miles on these. Most of the trails I hike are very rocky with a lot of loose, sharp, and irregular stones. These are trails where a solid boot with good protection is a requirement. I have found that these boots are protective and remain comfortable. They have also, despite some reviews, held up well. The sole has more than a few chunks missing, that's what happens when you walk on jagged rocks. They are still in good enough shape that I can expect at least another year out of them.The reason I dropped a star from my initial rating was not due to their waterproofing; as I said it's not great but adequate. In fact, for some people, this could still be a five-star product but for me, it's actually about a 2 star. I would not rate it overall as two-star because that would be unfair for readers whose hiking conditions differ from mine. I would expect that a boot that considers itself waterproof to have a "sticky" sole. If you're walking on wet rocks you want the sole to grip. These soles are slippery when wet. More than that, since I mostly hike in the desert, the rocks often have a very fine layer of sand on them which is the equivalent of millions of tiny ball bearings across the surface of the rock. I have slipped and lost my balance more often than I can count, this week I took a fairly serious fall and sprained my ankle. I was hoping that as I continued to use these boots that the sole would roughen up and grip better than they do. It's apparent that the sole was designed to be hard enough to offer protection (and still remain flexible and comfortable) but it fails in protecting from slipping or sliding when crossing a wet surface or more often in my case, a surface covered with fine sand. I would trade this durable and protective sole for one that was a bit less durable, a bit less protective, but one which also offered better slip resistance. If I was hiking on different terrain, this might not be an issue but the trails that I hike most often are not suited to this sole. It's too bad since this is a serious, and potentially dangerous issue for me. Other than that, I think it's a great boot, but I will need to find another that has a more practical sole for my purposes.

These boots are great. They came in handy during the recent U.S. East Coast winter storm. Being light weight, comfortable and water resistant ... made it easy walking around with no problems. These are the best pair of boots I've ever owned.

These shoes fit well, and they are very comfortable I will probably end up buying a second pair of these shoes because I find them to be a good quality. I’ve owned other shoes like these in the past, and was very pleased with them.

I LOVE these boots. This is my 4th pair. I put over 1500 miles on one pair doing long distance hikes. Great product. Great value. Unfortunately the laces failed the 2nd time I wore my latest ones. Easy to fix. Buy more laces. Wish this wasn't necessary. Could be problematic on a long hike.

These are my....eighth? Tenth? Not sure any more. I wear nothing but Merrell Moabs for work (retail management), and have for the last decade. All have run true to size, all have needed no break-in, comfortable out of the box. And I *use* them. 23k steps on my Fitbit for today as I write this, a typical day which isn't over yet. 50 miles a week, 2500 miles a year, all of it on concrete or pavement. I get 2-3 years out of a pair, and usually have a pair of low-rise Vents for summer and Mid Waterproof for winter. They offer great traction on even wet concrete, and (important to me) are completely noiseless.Your feet are not my feet, to be sure. My stride is very neutral, and if neutral is your gig (I wear and love Brooks Ghosts for summer recreational walking) you owe it to yourself to try Moabs. I am certainly not buying any other while Merrell continues making them like this.

Best hiking boot I have ever had. Great support, and after a year of hammering they have stood up perfectly. Cannot recommend these highly enough.

Calzo del 25 pero uso 25.5 porque mi pie es ancho, cuando compré este par elegí 25 pero decía talla 8 hombres, afortunadamente la 8 es 26 porque no me hubiera quedado el 25 que había pedido. Vienen muy bien acondicionados por dentro, traen arco no están planos, el forro por dentro es textil. El único pero que tendría es que no trae perforaciones para las agujetas, se sostienen por una pequeñas cintas espero no se rompan porque es un elemento que aparte de tener función es parte de la estética. Los encontré en super descuento en AmazonACTUALIZACIÓNPedí un par en café pero en 25.5 y llegó del 8.5 USA (25 UK y 42 EUR), me quedaron un poco flojos no ajustados como el 25 que había pedido antes (8 USA). Son cómodos tiene un buen agarre, llegaron y ya los traigo puestos. son hechos en Myanmar (antes Birmania) vamos a ver que tal salen porque los anteriores sin problema alguno.

This is, in my opinion, the very best hiking boot out there. It's super light, solid, well-built, grippy and durable. Perfect for any kind of hiking, from weekend outings to full-blown adventures. I finished a full "Tour du Mont Blanc" (all the Alp summits circling Switzerland, France and Italy) wearing my original Moabs in about 7 days without a single blister and never getting my feet wet. I'm never buying any other model, if Merrell can only keep making it!
