Excellent guide book and perfect size to keep in backpack. When you are at Yosemite sometimes the crowds make you change course from your daily itinerary. This book is really useful in terms of spelling out exactly what to expect on the trails you choose to hike and gives excellent pointers throughout. Yosemite is a beautiful place but extremely busy, guides like this really help navigate the park and the crowds to help you really get the most out of each day of your vacation. This was definitely a worthwhile purchase and really helped us choose our daily adventures.

I've hiked a lot of these trails over the past 20 years and hope to hike all 61 at some point. This book is as good as any...and better than most when describing the trails, how to get to them, what to watch out for (good and bad), etc. Good maps and some great photos of the trails, too. Glad I picked this book. The author sounds like someone you could enjoy a good Yosemite hike with and learn a lot from at the same time.

The Falcon Guide has color photos of the scenery of Yosemite, the maps are detailed, each with an elevation chart, so you know how strenous the hike will be and how long it may take. The trail descriptions tend to be more wordy, but tells you what to watch for.

Great guide with lots of info on both known and somewhat unknown hikes! I love how exact it is and how it is even to use on the trail. I love the maps it includes and makes planning a breeze.

Some of the information in the book is outdated! For, example, the Yosemite Valley Bus stop for the Four Mile Trail is NOT E5, but E6. Not sure how to verify this when heading up there in the middle of the night! LOL

Terrific book with the right amount of detail. Good information about each trail, but not so much that you are bogged down. This book leaves you excited and ready to explore.

Very nice overviews of trails with lots of information on the various hikes and locations. Pair it with a good planning map (Day Hikes of Yosemite National Park Map Guide) and you're good to go!

great review of the trails and features. I stayed in the valley and accessed trails from the shuttle system. Next time I go, I'll have a car and be able to explore the bulk of the trails that aren't accessible from the valley shuttle system.
