Seems outdated in places as it was published in 1996. The use of synthetic materials and advanced techniques such as UV cured resin have increased significantly. I wonder what flies he would pick today? On the time proven Deceiver and Clouser he offers excellent tying advice. The impressionistic crab imitation using carpet strands is very original. I think I will tie and fish them. Clearly written and the author is very encouraging to new fly tiers.

Good book, clear instruction, great photos. "Twelve flies" does not seem like a lot, but you can vary size/color/weight, and come up with a whole box full of patterns! Flies to cover the entire water column...
