Works great, tastes decent.
Excellent at eliminating bleeding gums that happens when brushing teeth. The taste is different from standard minty toothpastes but acceptable for the relief it provides.

Clean feeling
I've always been fanatical about oral hygiene, and in recent years became more so because of the development of periodontal disease.Due to this, I tend to use heavy duty plaque killing toothpastes containing xylitol (which basically starves the plaque) or EDTA (which keeps plaque from sticking to the teeth). Vita-Myr doesn't fall into either of these categories, but is part of my rotation.I'm not sure how this toothpaste works, but the surfaces of my teeth are quite smooth after using it, and it doesn't dry your mouth out. No overwhelming minty taste - it's got a nice flavor, likely from the myrrh. The inventor of this, Robert Takhtalian, had serious oral issues and he and his wife worked on this formula together at home. When it helped him and others they knew, they went ahead with manufacturing it.Parting words to fellow periodontic sufferers: Some dental professionals kind of shame you for being lax about your oral care, because they think neglect is the only way gum disease and periodontitis can develop. If you're like me, the care has been there, but it seems some people develop plaque faster.Dry mouth helps plaque grow, and if you're diabetic, menopausal, or a mouth breather, that's a risk factor. If you smoke (as I did) you create a sticky substance on your teeth that can allow the bad bacteria to climb up your teeth into your gums. If you eat a lot of simple carbs or sugar, you should know you're basically feeding plaque what it needs to grow. Changing these behaviors could be helpful. Buy and use "disclosing tablets" which -when chewed- leave a harmless temporary vegetable dye on your teeth and show you where you missed when brushing, and where plaque is developing.I am not a dentist, but in retrospect I'd also say: Go for those annoying dental cleaning visits 1-2 a year. Do the gargle/brushing/flossing routine at least 2-3 times a day because the key is to not let the bacteria sit long in your mouth, where it can develop into plaque and basically colonize. Don't let it sit, keep messing with it regularly, frequency matters. You have to keep disrupting the biofilm that grows. If you have a chance, watch the TED Talk "How bacteria talk" by Bonnie Bassler - while not overtly about plaque it's a great lesson on how bacteria behaves and you can apply what you learn to your oral heath. Best wishes!
