ServiceNow Development Handbook - Third Edition: A compendium of ServiceNow "NOW" platform development and architecture pro-tips, guidelines, and best practices

This book offers exactly what our consultants and support didn't, practical, real world best practices. When I first picked up the 2nd edition a few years back, I found it so beneficial that I bought additional copies for each member of my team and we referenced it almost daily, discussed it in our meetings and recommended it for other colleagues in other parts of the business with their own ServiceNow instances. I purchased the 3rd edition more to support the author's previous work not expecting much in the way of new material but when it arrived I was blown away by the improvements and additional content. The addition of color to the code and images makes it easier to read. Additional content around debugging, configurations and variables, fills in gaps in ServiceNow's own documentation. There is a strong emphasis on best practices that really clarifies the "can do" vs "should do" debate that often comes up in stakeholder meetings. Tim's writing style makes the content and concepts easily consumable by newer admins and developers while also providing guidance to more seasoned admins and developers. His examples, comments and humor tie it all together very nicely.Everyone who has admin rights to an instance of ServiceNow should have this book handy. The return on this investment is immeasurable to both your company and your career.

If you are a ServiceNow developer this is an essential desk reference. Even if you have many years in the application sometimes you need a reminder of what capabilities are available. I've purchased both the 2nd and 3rd editions and it's worth having the updated volume by my computer.

I do not generally write reviews but this book necessitates glorification. Behold, the stuff you wish you knew but probably don't. If you are on the fence, get it. It will enhance your understanding of the tool and further your skill in SN development. This book is simple yet deep. It discusses concepts that are often overlooked and aims to arm the reader with the necessary tools to effectively navigate the ocean that is ServiceNow.

This is a good book. Tim Woodruff is a good author.However, I bought both the Kindle version and the paperback version, just to compare.The Kindle version is GREAT, easy to read, even the footnotes!The Paperback version - hard to read. You need bionic eyes, a telescope, or you need to eat 10,000 carrots in order to read the footnotes in the Paperback book.I'm ordering glasses with 1000x magnification and a James Webb telescope so I can read all the print in the Paperback edition. Mr. Woodruff, you didn't take accessibility into account with your Paperback edition!

Tim Woodruff has taken some very difficult concepts and methods for developing ServiceNow and put them into terms anyone can understand. If you're a newcomer to ServiceNow development or a seasoned pro, this book should be on your desk. You will use it often!

This book is the real deal. And the author is a leading contributor and supporter of professionals learning and operating in the ServiceNow space. Don't be fooled by imposter books that look like this one. Trust the real deal.

I've found a lot of value in Mr. Woodruff's contributions to the ServiceNow community over the years. I have purchased previous versions of this handbook, and find it a valuable reference and resource in how to approach certain scenarios in the platform.

Best Book for ServiceNow Developers but this is not for beginners .

Had to purchase this to help me in my IT work and it is actually proving useful, hurts my brain but hey I needed it so thank you, if anyone can help me with this subject it would be appreciated

Both funny and informative

This book is like a secret cookbook and a guide on the journey that tells you more abut the HOW and WHY than just what and tells you all about the little tricky things that you should keep in mind. Things that can help you to evolve to a magician of ServiceNow developers.Tim Woodruff wants you to understand ServiceNow and gives you all the tools you need to become a great ServiceNow expert or even better.Personally I really like the way Tim designed the book and how he explains things. The book provides a technical deep-dive and view that reaches people with technical and non-technical background likewise.There is a reason why they call him professor and the author is well-known and respected in the ServiceNow community.Note: If you have absolutely no experience with ServiceNow yet you should first take into consideration to first read "Learning ServiceNow", another great book of the same author.
