Waterproof and ip44 are not the same thing
These are ip44, but ip44 is not waterproof. If you leave these outside in a way that they could become immersed in water by heavy rain, you will find them full of water. They could easily increase the rating just by adding some form of sealant to the openings that the cords come out of. I also have concerns about condensation building up inside. These will probably be fine for connections that are aerial but I wouldn't use them for connections running along the ground. There are other options around the same process with higher ip ratings.

Clever idea, a bit too small for my use.
Great way to help make your plug connections more weather resistant. Exactly what I wanted, just ended up being a little too small inside, they didn't fit the string light adapter I bought them for. My mistake for not checking. :)

its really hard to open
the item works good as long as u are able to get it open . its in two pieces and as long as u can get it opened it should work good . so when I got it I tried to open it and had to get a toll to help me do that . and once I was able to finally get it open it was and is works good . I was even able to bury it in the landscape and it worked good . but if u can find something else that can work better which I did then I would get it .

Not waterproof; VERY difficult to open without tools
I returned this product. It isn't waterproof. It was very difficult to pry open without tools. It would be easier to pry open with a screwdriver or small tool of some kind. Definitely not a choice for an older person or someone who doesn't' want to snap or bend backward their fingernails. It also doesn't come with directions. That seems a little silly to say, but when its *THAT* hard to open, I wondered what I might be doing wrong. So I went to the Amazon product listing and found the diagrams with arrows, etc. and realized that I WAS approaching it right. I pushed down and then pulled back much harder on the little tabs and was able to open it. But it won't be practical to open this product when its stored outside in wet/rain. And its way too easy for water to get into the compartment via the holes at either side.
