A thin book; Good, but only 13 short stories
The thirteen stories are good examples of Dunsany's wonderful style, but there are too few to justify this as a separate book; they all appear in other much more extensive compilations, and the inclusion of the long, dreamy `Idle days on the Yann' makes it a little lopsided.

Fun,wonderful story collection that is a great introduction to the great Dunsany.
What can one say about the wonderful master of fantasy?I re-read these stories all the time;and know that those he inspired did, too:Lovecraft,Bloch,Tolkien, and the who's who of fantasy, horror, dark fantasy, and sci-fi.The Idle Days upon the Yann has inspired many a great dream for me when I read it before bedtime---the stories here and in his other fantasy works have a vastness,other-worldliness,with a wonderful humour about them, and a depth in so short of a space.I hope other people will get this book and search out his other fantasy stories and transport themselves to those marvelous places.

some excellent stories
Unfortunately, much of Dunsany’s fantasy was written as ‘ancient tales of medieval times or the inscrutable Orient,’ instead of just plain good stories of modern fantasy. His archaic dialects can obscure the storyline & don’t necessarily enhance the mood. But! this collection has some excellent stories. My personal favorites: The Last Dream of Bwona Khubla; How the Office of Postman Fell Vacant…; East & West; The Sack of Emeralds; The Old Brown Coat; A City of Wonder; 2nd Tale—A Shop in Go-By Street.
