I have a 1-year old French bulldog who is very strong, and although I had to admit, a tad bit bullheaded. I ordered this leash because of the double handles, which I LOVE! The handles are padded on the inside, which is super nice. I now, have total control over him and he is doing great learning how to walk beside me. It only took one outing with the leash to become successful.The hook is another story. The hook that attaches to my dog's harness is not trustworthy. We stopped on our walk to chat with friends. When my dog was playing with another dog, it came unhooked. It could have been a tragic event. I wish the latch on the hook screwed closed rather than just dropping down.

I really wanted to like this. I used to have a heavy duty two-handled leash but have it away after my dog died. I got a new dog so I needed a new leash.The second handle on my old lease was a separate loop that was sewed onto the main leash. My other dog PULLED.This leash is made differently. It's just a piece of the same material sewed on. My current dog is not much of a puller. She's pretty well behaved although every now and then she does. The 2nd handle on this leash has torn. I've added 3 pictures. The first shows the side that tore, the second shows the side that hasn't. The third shows the entire attachment.But, that's why I'm not so inclined to give it as many stars. Yes, the catch is really good but I need a second handle I can rely on.I've has this leash since July 2018. It tore within 6 months. I kept forgetting to review it...

This is a fine quality leash, with a lot of useful and well-crafted features! My new adopted dog is JET black, and just disappears from view when it gets dark outside. Since I can't even see him, I KNOW cars and pedestrians won't see him. That's not safe for him, so a reflective leash was needed to walk him at night. Most of the competitors' leashes had thin stripes of reflective threads woven in, but this product uses a wide band of fabric, running the full length, that really shows up in the least amount of ambient light. Everything is top quality, from the materials to the stitching, to the hardware. I am now hoping this co. makes a matching collar that Buddy can wear all the time so he's visible and fitted out in style.If I could make two adjustments to the leash, I would ask that the front handle loop be attached a bit higher-up, so using it didn't kill my lower back. I'd also shorten the total length by a foot. But that's only right for my particular dog, who is a 53 lb. Labrador mix and his shoulder height is around 22" high. This is really proportioned for pretty large dogs.UPDATE: Two quibbles after eight months of daily use: 1) the reflective fabric strip is fraying, leaving long threads that I have to clip off. Could eventually cause the strip to separate from the webbing. 2) I removed the metal “collar” from the spring clasp. It was always in the way, and it prevented the clasp from closing securely if it was in the “up” position when attaching it to the collar loop. Annoying! Please use a simpler clasp in future versions; a “safety feature” that isn’t secure doesn’t do much good, after all. It is STILL a very high-quality product, though!

my dog is STRONG!!!! He has broken so many types of leash connectors/latches and worn the leashes out simply by wanting to chase any furry thing that moves while out on a walk (lol)This leash is absolutely amazing!!! It is heavy duty and the handle at 4 feet allows me to keep my dog close when I need to. If it can withstand my dogs abuse that is a true testament of its strength. My dog took off after something yesterday a normal leash would have snapped. THIS leash held strong. (my shoulder felt it all).I also have the Tuff Pupper Heavy Duty Dog collar and the Tuff Pupper Action collar as well.
