An interesting end to the Extinct series leaving questions unanswered. What caused it? What’s next? Where do we go from here? The answers? Use your imagination. Worth the read.Always leave em guessing Jack.

Jack Hunt is one of the premier writer’s of apocalyptic fiction today.His stories are complex. His worlds are rich and colorful. The characters he creates are deeply developed.And from the beginning, this series offers a bit of mystery, or a “whodunnit” sensibility to it.By far, though, I really enjoyed Book 1, found Book 2 to be ok (based solely on my own preferences for type of story) — and Book 3 just knocked it out of the park!I actually got a little spooked in the beginning of the story (Book 3) … reading late one night, home alone. I thought, “oh no! What am I getting into with this last book?!?”But it turned out to be not what I was assuming it to be. Or late-night-creeped out-speculated it to be. Lol!Anyway — fabulous series!Bit different from what I’m used to from Jack Hunt. But — three books in and I still haven’t been able to put my finger on exactly what it is that makes it seem that way, it’s so subtle??In any case, worth your time!

I definitely enjoyed this series and the storyline but it definitely had its holes. Some things seemed to happen randomly that didn't fit into the story (e.g. Emily - she was a main character so WHY??) I would have liked to know more about the Dwellers and the Order, however I felt these aspects of the story were rushed. I am very frustrated that the animals dying was never explained, that is a big hole in the story in my opinion. It also feels like this series was separate stories, I didn't think how they played out was satisfying to the reader and feel the author rushed the storyline. This should have been six books instead of 3 so the storylines could have been more detailed and answers about the animals dying could be revealed. I am definitely not satisfied never knowing how that happened.

Three books were not enough to satisfy their situation. Yes this series was short lived not knowing the outcome of their situation existence in their perils.

Very different take on a dystopian story! Very engaging. Great characters. I really enjoyed it. The suspense never let up. A good message too. I highly recommend this book!

Species is a solid conclusion for the series. There are a few inconsistencies, for example in one scene someone has a desert eagle in their hand, and in the next paragraph they fired the revolver. Minor things like that. Overall it’s a really good series and this is a fun conclusion.

The trilogy was very satisfying and gave a very different view of an apocalypse. There was enough character development to get me vested in their future which led to some disappointment when some didn't make it.

I read the first book and loved it.Book two and three are wild west books with shooting, raping and cannibalism. Not an original idea at all.I read the series in the hope that it would go back to the first book. No such luck.Writer needs to decide if Lucas is 14 or 15!

So good I read all 3 books over 3 nights. Ramps up from birds and fish dying in book one to man causing his usual mayhem by trying to grab power and twist it. Nicely written trilogy. Enjoy able series.

A strong finish to the trilogy, well thought out characters, overall a decent trilogy - will be reading more of Hunts work.

All 3 books did not disappoint from start to end kept me wrapped in the story could not put them down, fell asleep in bed.I have them full stars was well deserved, well done Jack , looking for more of the same , keep them coming.
