This great historical piece can transport the reader back into the Indian Wars with really clear optics. The best part of the book is that the author draws from many resources and tries to remain a neutral but convey the history of Terry's world especially during the Yellowstone Expedition of 1876 which included the Battle of the Little Big Horn and Terry's role. This book is not about Custer. It is about Terry and all the events that created the dynamics of the Indian Wars even though the Civil War years are included as background to shape the character of General Terry. As a historian tuned to accuracy, my Amazon author bio shows how important accuracy can be, I appreciate the footnotes and the research as I am using this book for my own research on a novel under development.
