Micro Jig MATCHFIT Relief Router Bit 1/2” Shank

Could you use a 1/4” straight bit that’s already in your shop? Yes. This bit has a shear angle on the cutters and slight round over on the shoulders that sets you up for best results when making final pass with MatchFit dovetail bit. Have only made two jigs in 3/4” plywood with this pair of bits and so far I’m impressed. Bit of blow out at ends of cuts (did not use backer board), but tops of grooves are clean. MatchFit’s bit are well made and perform well. Bottom line is you can make relief cuts with ordinary bits or even on a table saw, and you don’t absolutely need MatchFit’s dovetail bit either. But if you plan to make a lot of jigs and fixtures with this system, then getting the matched dovetail and relief bit may make sense for you.

This bit provides a much cleaner cut than a straight end mill. Highly recommend

Make slots for Microjig router dovetail bits to rout out dovetails for Microjig clamps. I.E., to allow two routing passes for dovetail bit durability. Using this bit first makes it easier on the dovetail bit.
