Great belt for intermediate and Olympic-style lifters.
The belt is secured in two steps: first, the fit is chosen by wrapping the belt around the torso and then securing the first set of velcro pads. Next, a strap is wrapped around the belt, securing and tightening the fit. Once the second strap has been secured, the abdominal muscles can be pushed against the belt for additional support without fear that belt will give. The dual lock design is easier to put on and take off than a traditional belt clasp and is more secure than traditional velcro locked designs. Unless I put the belt on as tight as I am able to, I have not been able to make the belt give by pushing against it with my core. Like other belts that use velcro, it is susceptible to picking up dust and other debris which will reduce the locking strength over time. Overall, I regard belt's design favorably. The belt provides moderate support and allows enough mobility to perform complex compounds like the clean and jerk. This belt only provides a small amount of carry-through (which should be considered a positive in a training belt), so if you want to move very heavy loads, you will be better off using a thick leather powerlifting belt. For most people, this belt will be sufficient even more motions like the deadlift or the squat. I wear this belt while performing all of the aforementioned exercises. The build quality of the belt is acceptable. My belt has a few frayed fabric fibers. I trimmed them, and they did not continue to unravel. The belt has not softened or become less secure when used daily for two months (at the time of writing). At the price point offered, it would be disingenuous not to recommend the product to individuals in the market for a velcro lifting belt. 7/6/2015 Update: After several months, my belt began to lose it's stiffness and had the tendency to give while performing deadlifts, squats, and during the catch portion of my clean. I was also able to make the belt give when wearing it fairly loosely and pushing my core muscles against it. I contacted the company asking if I want eligible for the lifetime warranty. The presumed owner of the company, Mark Pasay, replied promptly, requested my Amazon order ID, and then shipped the new belt in less than two business days. I have NEVER had a warranty filled so quickly or effortlessly. I have changed my rating from a 4 to a 5. RipToned is an exceptional company to do business with and have shown that they stand behind their product and their promises.

Excellent Belt
This is a review of the RipTone 4" lifting belt. Bottom line a very good product especially for the price. It's been several years since I owned or used a lifting belt but I knew I didn't want the leather belt and buckle style belt again. Sure they work and are probably the go-to belt for serious lifters but that's not me. They weren't the greatest for comfort and were a little cumbersome to adjust on the fly. So that basically left me with a nylon and velcro style belt. What caught my eye about this belt were the hip notches. From previous experiences with belts, I didn't like the belt digging into my hips when trying to squat because they restricted me from going into a deep squat and it often ended up changing my form...not something I wanted. These arrived on time and were as expected as you'll see in the pictures. The packaging was a nice little surprise and it had me believing this was a good purchase. Needless to say, when I tried them on for the first time, I just loved the overall fit and support. I've used it now for a week and am very happy. If you're looking for a nice nylon and velcro style belt, you should really consider this belt.

Bigger than advertised
I would suggest ordering a size smaller than the sizing chart suggests for this belt. I measured myself to be 39" using the instructions they gave on the sizing chart, so I thought I would be safe ordering the Large as it would give me 2" of play as I plan on loosing a bit of weight... However, when I got the belt in, it only fit at the tightest setting of the belt, what is advertised as 37". Other than that, the quality of the belt seemed very nice and sturdy. However I haven't really tried it out as i returned it when I found out the size was too large. I will update my review when I order the proper size. Suggestion to Rip Toned: Please update you're sizing chart to be more accurate in the actual size of the belt. It seems that you are using the same chart as the 4" weightlifting belt you provide and there is clearly a difference with this one.

Very sturdy! Great belt.
This is a great belt! I'm a 5'7" 135lbs woman (I got the small) that lifts a lot and I've been using this belt on leg days. I like the support and it seems pretty sturdy! I'm surprised at the reviews that mentioned it falling apart. I think they must have the wrong size or are using it incorrectly. I hit a deadlift PR last weekend using it so I'm pretty happy! There is Velcro where the belt breaks (at the front when wrapped around you) and on the top of the belt for the red strap to attach to. Between both Velcro attachments, I don't think this belt will be "falling apart" any time soon. The only thing I don't like about it is that it is a little difficult to get off in a hurry. You have to unattach the Velcro holding the red strap down, then the Velcro actually holding the belt onto you. It is a small complaint though and doesn't really bother me much. Some people might find it frustrating after a particularly heavy lift and want to relieve themselves of the tightness of the belt quickly, but even then it isn't much of a big deal, an extra 2 seconds compared to a lever belt.

Superbly engineered Support Belt
"This back support, multifunction belt is of FIRST CLASS quality. All of its' construction is as strong and tough as the models used to show it. I have a belly that badly needs trimming and often causes back pain. This belt does fit me and can be adjusted to infinite degrees of support. The WAY that it closes around you is genius. Using a thick webbed strap with plenty of velcro it loops through a sturdy steel square hook and comes back to secure & tighten the belt using thick long velcro. You use only 1/2 the effort to tighten due to the fulcrum effect. I use it for a long walk, exercising, and if my lower back is sore. It's width is perfect for me. Just enough back is supported w/o being BULKY. It looks good too. You can't go wrong buying this product!

it's well made and does a good job.
I had been experiencing slight lower back pain while performing weighted squats and lunges. I purchased this item to support that area. I found it worked well in supporting my back, which allowed me to squat a little lower than without it. My only issue is that on a petite frame, the top of the belt pushes into the rib cage causing slight discomfort during low squats. Otherwise, it's well made and does a good job.

GREAT QUALITY GEAR!!
I currently own several pieces of RIP Tone gear and use all of them weekly when I go to the gym. I have had some of the gear for 4yrs and it is working as well as the day I got it. I'd recommend RT to anyone who works out and appreciates good quality. The other thing that makes RT such an incredible value is the price, you could pay more for other brands that aren't even as good. RT is my go to when ever I need work out gear.

Good for a while, then not so good...
Small was a bit smaller than I expected (31" waist) but it works fine worn over a light shirt (or bare). It definitely helped support me while squatting. I felt a big difference even when doing my warmup with a lighter weight. It's comfortable and feels like it will last a good while. UPDATE: ended getting a medium as a free replacement (great customer service!). Fits great and really makes a big difference in my workouts! UPDATE (03/28/2016): the velcro no longer holds very well. It is no longer reliable enough to risk wearing it for anything heavy.
