Kong: Skull Island - The Official Movie Novelization

I've read several books by Tim Lennon, primarily in the Alien universe. His books are action packed and he knows how to tell a story. He handles the novelization of the film well and I'm glad he was chosen instead of Alan Dean Foster as his film novelization tend to be dull with no insight into the characters. This book is fast paced like the film, but I felt like I got a chance to know more about the characters. Whether you have seen the film or not, this is a great read.

I really enjoyed reading this book. I couldn't put it down. Tim Lebbon does an excellent job of telling great stories. Check out some of his other books if you get a chance. This book took a different spin on King Kong. Kong didn't get to go to New York City and hang on the Empire State Building. Lol. You will enjoy this great story.

Having only just seen the movie out now on Blu-ray, this previously read novelization actually stands out for the better. Novels for movies such as Pacific Rim have generally been basic recapitulations of the movie events. Here, however, there is some significant additional background that fleshes out characters and scenes without contradicting what was on screen. Most affected perhaps are the native Iwi, their society described in greater detail; and Conrad, who not only is given detail on a past traumatic event but also a bit more to do including a book-specific action scene. None of this keeps it from following the events of the movie and is well-written.

Great read. Followed the movie. Book was even better than movie. Action, scary and fast pace.
