NRS RiverMaps Green and Yampa in Dinosaur National Monument Unknown Binding

We purchased this guide for a trip on the Green River.The first few pages cover a general description of the river, geology, and human history. The more interesting rapids, camp locations and points of interest are indicated on the map pages. Brief descriptions of the rapids are included. These are all good things for a river guide.However, I was very disappointed to see that, for this price, the maps start at the Lodore boat ramp. Yes, the title says it is for the Monument only but really, how much more effort would it take to add a few pages? Most people who get a permit for the Lodore section want to extend the trip by launching upstream at Flaming Gorge Dam. Hence, there are no maps of the river from Flaming Gorge Dam down to Lodore. Fortunately, we have an old Belknap guide, but it will be a nuisance to have to bring both.Furthermore, this is by far the largest river guide/map set that we have. It barely fits into our largest waterproof map case that easily accomodates all of the other river guides that we have. Why bother with a map case, you ask, the map is waterproof? The map case secures the map to the boat in case of a sudden wind gust, a fumble, or a flip.Finally, be aware that the maps are USGS topographic maps, re-orientated river-wise (you read them bottom-to-top in the direction of the flow as you row downstream). This is fine, and most modern river guides follow this model. This also means that you have to rotate the map to read place names (other than the named rapids, camps, and points of interest) as you float. On this river, the flow is mostly pointing south and the topographic maps are printed assuming that the reader is orientating them pointing north.A sticker on the copy that we purchased indicates that the river map won an outdoor book award - what were the judges thinking?!? If the maps started at the Flaming Gorge Dam, I would give this guide three stars. The overlarge size would still prevent me from rating it any higher.
