This book really feels like a continuation of The 8 step guide to value investing. In that book the author introduces us to the concept of the economic moat and goes into it more deeply in this one. It's straight forward investing advice that teaches you how to make investment decisions for yourself or at the very least, check things out. Freeman publications also has a great website with tons of resources. After you read through a couple of books and even sign up on their email list you'll find that they are interested in transparency and empowerment for their customers. It's quite refreshing to see that in the finance world. I'd like to end this review with a note on the email list. The emails are never spammy and always have some good content that feels honest and personal. It's something I actually look forward to getting in my inbox, a rare thing indeed!

I have been reading the Freeman Publication financial series and I would highly recommend this book along with others (Cover Calls, REITS, Wheel Strategy) for new traders.

That requires some work, but will pay off in the end. Worth the time investment to improve an investor's knowledge of how to read a company's financial profile.

This is another great read by Freeman Publications. This is the fourth book I have read and I intend to read each book they have put out. Always great information in an easy-to-understand format. I have learned so much from their books and I always find a multitude of important information to highlight. I am retiring in the next year and want to educate myself on best ways to invest so I don't need to pay 1% or more to advisors. Even if I ultimately decide to go with an advisor, I will be able to understand the investments they recommend. Other than our health and the well being of my family, my financial security is of utmost importance and I plan to be educated in all things investing.

Its top examples for each moat, predicated on valuations at the peak of the pandemic bubble did not hold up well at all, discrediting the very points the book tries to make. However, the book is a straightforward and easy read, and the basic principles true - though the level remains somewhat too shallow to be directly usable.

This book gives great gems on “How to Investigate” & “Where to Investigate” in regards to picking great companies!And it was straight to the point!

Fantastic Moats and Where to Find Them is one of the best I have read in the past year. The book is well organized and written in a style that is conversational and informative. Investing jargon is kept to a minimum and well explained when necessary. Chapters 1-2 introduce the concept of moats--economic advantages, their importance and how to research companies to find those with moats. Chapters 3-10 introduce 9 different moats with a detailed discussion of each with examples. Finally chapters 11-13 wrap up the discussion with practical suggestions for investing in excellent companies with enduring economic advantages.I can see myself returning to this book regularly for some time to come.

This is a wonderful read on the different kinds of Moats and how to spot them. It even talks about the phases a business go through and how to identify them in order to hold or sell. The best thing about this book is its simplicity and the fact that it’s a small book you can easily review as reference. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking on getting more insight on Investing into Moat businesses.

I have read all of Freeman Publications books, and their latest did not disappoint. Companies and their Moats is another important concept for finding candidates for long-term investing. I like the clear explanations, along with examples of current-day companies.

This was a great introduction into investing, what to look for and research. Plus, you get access to some great video courses and emails for free.

"Moat" is usually something that is covered within one chapter of a "value investing" book. Here, the author tries to make a book out of it. Using larger printed texts and line spacing.Sure, it does provide useful information about what is moat when it comes to value investing. However, the examples given do not provide any meaningful case studies. Some examples were merely in a repetitive form and do not stand out as anything special, probably just "fillers". There are also two types of "moats" claimed by the author in 2 different chapters, which I do not agree on - they are simply not economic moats.The charts and graphs included in the book are unreadable.I'd give this a 2.5/5 star.

A light, but informative read about MOATs.Another good book from Freeman Publications.I would say the one about Bitcoin and the one featuring 20 best stocks to hold for the next 20 years are better, but still, this is worth giving it a read.

I’m still like a Bambi on wobbly legs when it comes to the world of investing, but thanks to Freeman Publications, there’s definitely hope!Real, honest and solid advice on how to assess a company for investment purposes is presented in the simplest way possible. The truth might be hard to swallow - you might need to actually do some work and quite a bit of research in order to make a well informed decision about where to spend your money in order to get some good returns, when in fact, you just want to follow the social media hype... I’ve been a victim of this until I read this book... my small investing account is quite red looking today, after a few really bad decisions. Praying is probably the only thing that I’m left with to get back into the green 🙏🏻 Well, and most definitely likely this excellent book! My next choices will be a completely different story.
