If you don't stagger them your window might not fit properly into the rubber receptacle. I purchased the screw and lock washer nut at Ace Hardware. You can do the project in less than an hour. **Q: What is the thickness of the hinge material, length of knuckles and vertical spacing between holes?  Thank you**
A: Sorry, I can't really give you a good answer.  I used the hinge for a special project about 8 months ago and I don't have those specs.   It installed at a location at which I no longer have access.  I can only say it did the job.

**Q: what are the size and material of the screws that come with the hinges?**
A: The screws that come with the hinge are Stainless Steel and I THINK they are about a #4 Flat head screw about 5/8" long, about the size screw use in old Kitchen Cabinet Door Hinges.  I did not use the screws that came with the Hinge for my project, instead I used Stainless Steel Flat Phillips Machine Screw 6-32 X 3/4" with at Locking Nut.  What came with the Hinge and what I used, both where flat to the top of the hinge when installed.  Hope this helped.

**Q: Can these be cut to size?**
A: It can be cut down. The hinge is if good quality. We have a 44" bench on either side of the entryway. They were built 5.5 years ago, and have survived frequent use, 5 grandkids, and my spouse!

**Q: Is the width size open or closed width?**
A: Open = 1 - 1/2"W
