This English language edition of Tintin in the Congo, in colour, completes the series of 24 Tintin adventures, created by Hergé, making it an essential volume for collectors. Tintin au Congo first appeared in June 1930, in "Le Petit Vingtième", the children's supplement to the Brussels newspaper "Le Vingtième Siècle", where it was published as a serial over a period of a year. ln 1931 the story was published in book form by Les Editions du Petit Vingtième and a few months later by Editions Casterman of Tournai. The first English language edition, translated by Leslie Lonsdale-Cooper and Michael Turner, was published in 1991 by Sundancer, London. Tintin in the Congo featured the full length version of the story with black and white illustrations. ln 1946 Tintin au Congo was revised by Hergé and published in colour by Casterman in the standard 64-page album format. lt is from this edition that the present book is translated. ln addition, when Tintin au Congo was later to be published in translation in Scandinavia, Hergé redrew page 56, and the revised version of this page is included here. ln his portrayal of the Belgian Congo, the young Hergé reflects the colonial attitudes of the time. He himself admitted that he depicted the African people according to the bourgeois, paternalistic stereotypes of the period - an interpretation that some of today's readers may find offensive. The same could be said of his treatment of big-game hunting. Review: Good quality overall. - The corners of the cover is slightly dented, other parts are in good shape. Review: Nice for collecting - Nice for collecting, came in great shape

TinTin ! Billions of Blue Blistering Barnacles !!!!
I LOVE the entire Tintin series. I had them all except..... this one. Now I have the complete collection and enjoy re-reading them just like some people like watching re-runs on the telly. I ordered the Hardbound version. It arrived in immaculate condition and is well worth the price. If you are a Tintin fan of any degree and do not have, or have not read, this first edition then you absolutely have to get it. (the first Tintin release dealing with the soviets is not considered a part of "The Adventures of Tintin" )

Good quality book with large format size
When I opened the book I noticed that the paper was matte and was of a reasonable thickness. I looked through the book and as far as I can see there aren't any overtly racist dialogue compared to the original book publication. The book is also the full-size format that makes it easy to read and enjoy while sitting back relaxed.

Rekommenderas starkt!

Good quality and hardcover
The book was everything (and more) than I expected it to be. Due to the controversial colonial attitude the story portrays, availability of this book is limited, so if you want to complete your collection, I suggest in doing so soon before it is fazed out.

Simple Storyline
The storyline was somehow simple and at some points unbelievable compared to the later series.

A classic, like it or not.
Beautiful colour reprint true to the original. The original story, printed 95 years ago, may be offensive to “modern audiences” but it is a great story and perspective into 1930’s zeitgeist. A must have for fans, nothing to cry about. Thanks to the publisher and distributor on a great job. Note: the red banner shown on the cover is just a strip of paper, it’s not printed on the cover.
