Review: Good product, bad delivery - My oscar fish got pretty beat up by another tankmate (which I got rid of after this). I did a couple salt dips after noticing a white outline on the edge of its fins. Its an albino so I couldn't tell if it was due to regrowth or infection. Either way the salt couldn't hurt. But the majority of the recovery was just using this. Seems to have worked well, some slow regrowth going now. He should make a full recovery. The bottle did arrive broken and it did spill inside the box. The lid snapped off. I don't think that was necessarily the companies fault as much as it was desertcart's. It took like half an hour going through menus just to get assistance. Absolutely ridiculous. But other than that it seems to have worked. Will continue dosing until it grows it back entirely. You can see the difference from the first day to now. First picture was on monday and the second was saturday. Not bad considering. It looks like it will be awhile before hes full go though. You can see his fins and tail were more frayed initially, but now they seem to be coming more together. I am doing frequent water changes now, to help it heal faster. I just redose for the amount I take out. I had a bottle of paraguard on standby seeing as I just started this tank, but I really should've have the stressguard instead. Will likely keep a bottle of this on hand now as well. EDIT: looking good. Pattern changed on it slightly since then, but its as happy as it was before the scuffle. Can hardly tell aside from a tiny bit missing off the top of the tail.
Review: this saved my fish’s lives - first of all, I do not usually leave reviews.. but I just wanted to put this out here in case anyone else finds himself in a similar situation and aren’t sure what to do. I have very large South American cichlids in an outdoor pond and naturally sometimes they fight. Anytime I see anyone with any injuries I always dose the pond with this bc it’s safe for the other fish and the plants in there. It’s essentially harmless to use and can pretty much only help. I’ve used this probably dozen times for small injuries and never had any problems. This particular time was a true test of its efficacy. Two of my adult cichlids had the worst wounds I’ve seen in any of my tanks. A blood parrot was missing like a third of their jaw/face from locking jaws with someone and getting their face bitten, and a different fish had what looked like a stab mark (??) that was like almost a full inch long with some weird opaque white stuff coming out of it 😭 These 2 fish don’t bother each other at all so it may have been a coincidence idk but it was such a nightmare and I did not think either of them would come back from their wounds. I considered euthanizing them, but honestly, I didn’t have any way to actually euthanize fish that size.. so I ordered a couple bottles of this overnight and prayed for the best. It says it’s safe to double the dose so I did and within three days, the fishes face grew back almost perfectly and the other fish with the stab wound already had a visible closed scar. I was so impressed (and thrilled!!) It says it has colloids that bind to exposed proteins in wounds, and after my personal experience and consulting some experts online, I truly believe this product does what it says, and is worth every penny.

## Features

- PROTECT: Seachem StressGuard is a premium slime coat protection product, working to reduce stress and ammonia toxicity whenever handling or transporting fish.
- HEAL: Seachem StressGuard binds to exposed protein in wounds to promote healing of injured fish while reducing the likelihood of primary and secondary infections.
- TREATMENT: The protein active colloidal agent in StressGuard actively seeks out any wounds, abrasions, or places where exposed proteins are and attaches to this area, helping to directly deliver the disinfectant in the product and start the healing process.
- AQUARIUM CARE: Use 1/2–1 capful (2.5–5 mL) of StressGuard to every 40 L (10 US gallons) every 24 hours until signs of stress have abated or healing is complete. A dose of StressGuard may be safely doubled.
- SAFETY: StressGuard has a pH of 7.0. It will not affect the pH of an aquarium, even at large doses, allowing for safe use in a reef or planted aquarium containing invertebrates

## Questions & Answers

**Q: When adding new fish or changing water do I have to use the entire 5ml/10gallon rule ?**
A: I would do it if it were me. Most fish come from pet stores that are severly overstocked and under maintained so they are already stressed when you bring them home. Add to that the fact that they are being moved for the umpteeth time and they can use all the help they can get. I will say that I do use half doses when I move my fish from one tank to another only because they tanks are well maintained and the water parameters are pretty much the same so the fish are less stressed. Other people may have different opinions but this is my process and it works for me. I have four tanks. I have a 125, 90, 55 and a 40. I have been in the hobby for over 15 years. I also keep two aquatic turtles as well. Hope this helps.

**Q: any views on this product versus API's stresscoat?**
A: Different products, API is a water conditioner, stressguard is an antiseptic for open wounds, cuts. I used StressGuard occasionally and API on water changes.

**Q: Does purigen have to be removed from filter?**
A: No you can add whenever etc.

**Q: Do you have to remove purigen from your filter**
A: No. Generally Seachem products are safe to use with other Seachem products. Normal filters, nor purigen filters have to be removed when using Stress Guard. It's perfectly safe.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Worth it.

I have tetras, plecos and snails and no issues when using this. I do believe it helped promote healing after I had a little fin rot run its course. I use this after water changes (stress) or when I need some extra juice to amp up healing. It’s affordable and very easy to follow the directions.
