It’s a rim.
Definitely a rim. Good quality, moderately priced. Definitely heavy duty. Good replacement. Hard to get excited over a basketball rim.

Cheap Rim bends and breaks after one week!
Don’t waist your money of this junk! We bought this for our church gymnasium.It lasted less than one week. The hoop is made of paper thin metal that bends and warped after a single light game of one on one between two 7th graders.Within one hour of its installation in our gym, it had already begun to bend and break just from the pressure of getting hit on the rim with a basket ball. Who ever heard of a basketball hoop unable to stand up to getting hit with a basketball?If you plan to use this basketball goal, it is essential that every shot go in as a swoosh, because if the ball hits anything other than the net, it will bend and break the thin metal rim. Actually, scratch that, the net falls apart too. So just avoid this product. It can’t hold up to a single little league game, much less regular use.

Sturdy, need to make sure this fits
I bought this to replace a broken rim. It appeared to be a standard backboard, and this appeared to be a standard rim. Unfortunately, the backboard I was replacing the rim on had a divot for the rim to be bolted into and this guy was just slightly too big. With some creative work and a couple of new smaller bolts I was able to get it attached sufficiently. I'm taking a start away since it didn't fit exactly, but I'm not sure if that's the blame of this rim or the hoop that I had. If I knew it was for sure the rim's fault then I'd drop it down another.

The net is in shreds in less than 2 months
The hoop looks good and was easy to attach to the wooden backboard we had. Less than 6 weeks after hanging it we noticed that the net was missing large chunks. When we took it down we saw that it pulled apart with very little effort. Now we have a netless rim and have to see if we can buy just a net.

Wrong product in the box, rim backing too small 2.5 x 3 in instead of 4 by 4 with option of 5 by 5. Was a gift so missed the exchange date.
