To low sound to scare a human !
I have only placed it in few places and its ok if some one is sneaking about, it would startle anyone, but to say it would scare them is a bit out there , it will work great for varmints with the lights and sound !! I will be installing it at a site for deer very soon, it does charge up quickly, it is now being tested to see how long it holds that charge (in dark area) seems to be doing good for one charge in sun about 3 hrs and in use part time for 3 days, in area that goes off about 3 or 4 times a day !! i sure hope it works well when rain starts as that will be the real test !UPDATE this thing stopped every deer dead in its tracks on rose bush's and on veggies they where hitting every night , works so well i will be getting at least 4 more of these ! no rain yet that be a game changers ? Over the years of use have been happy with this even in rain, there was a probelm with battery contacts but solved it very easy with Q-tip and some alcohol, the small slide switch would be same probelm its a little cheap for the quality and seems to be fine when workng it back in forrth a few time ! It now is inside as my one entrance has to be protected ! if they put a transmiter inside this to alert inside home they would not be able to keep up with orders poss !

Does not work in the dark.
Ordered these to help keep deer out of my corn fields, was very hopeful that it would scare the deer off. After charging I tested them outside one evening and they worked fine outside of having to be very close to them. Wasn't as loud as I had hoped for but was still hoping it would be loud enough for the deer. Loved the flashing lights. One other complaint about them is they are really wide, they would not fit on a 4x4 post, would probably fit on a 6x6. I cut some boards and nailed them to the 4x4's so I could mount the lights on my 4x4's.So after getting them placed out in my fields I tested again, was in the evening when it was getting dark but was still some light out. They worked great other than the distance issue. While patrolling the fields later that night I noticed that when I would drive by them they would not go off. I thought maybe the battery didn't last very long, but then I happened to shine my flashlight on the unit while I drove by and it suddenly went off. So I made a few more laps and drove right next to the lights, any closer and I would have hit them and again nothing happened! But as soon as I shine a light on them and drive by they work!So if you are planning on using these for your home be sure the area you are planning on using them in is well lit. Also don't count on them being loud enough to wake you up unless you have the hearing of a bat. I could barely hear them inside my truck when outside, they sound like they are plenty loud enough up close but outside in the open they are not very loud. Money would be better spent on spot lights with timers.

Motion To Wake The Dead!
Wow! And a second WOW! This solar powered motion detector alarm I purchased through Amazon will blow the socks off any intruder!(And neighbors). I love it because it powers itself; it can be 3-set for off; or (mine has an on-range of about twenty feet plus a side angle coverage) blink the brightest blue colored police-like warning lights; or press the one of the two pushbutton switches and the blinking will accompany a commandeering voice of warning about entering your protected area. Plus, from Amazin' Amazon, I also installed the greatest and reasonable (to me, as a retired engineer)available solar powered motion detecting Light that uses white LEDs - by Concept. So we also have light on the intruder..(together, a few weeks ago, they frightened away a bear who visited us at 4 A.M.looking for his din-din).One problem with the alarm. DO NOT DROP THE TWO FOREIGN-MADE SCREWS - they are the thinnest and the only ones that fit the two small mounting holes. Lose one and you'll regret it! Lucky we had a magnet to comb the surrounding grass. And if absolutely necessary, drilling a larger hole(s) for American size might ruin the inside sealed-in components. Otherwise, M.Lucky says: BUY 'EM BOTH - ALARM & LIGHT! (from Amazon, of course)!

Not very loud!
I’m probably being kind by giving it 3 stars, but does what it’s supposed to do for me. It’s not that loud, so I doubt if the neighbors will hear it, if you live in a house. I use it to warn intruders in my backyard by my backdoor. Some reviewers said it was like a Halloween prop, and I can understand that. So if you need a loud alarm, this isn’t for you. It just talks and has flashing blue lights, with a mild alarm sound.

Extremely Sensitive!!!
These sensors work too well! We have 2 sitting on top of our porch lights, and our patio is empty. These things go off ALL the time!!! Either this thing sees ghosts or it’s the shadows from moving trees 20 feet away that are setting it off. But they make a loud siren noise, flash light and say “Warning, protected area!”! I gave them 4 stars just because they go off when nothing is verifiably there. I’ve scared myself a few times painting my patio in the cool of the summer evening with the porch light on and it STILL goes off! Like I said, it works too well!!

I had it up a full year, but then it stopped working-no relief from Warranty Purchase!!
I liked this solar light (I never used the audio for fear it would frighten me!) just fine. I had it on the roof, in enough sun most of the afternoon, and it worked fine, until beginning of April this year, so it worked very well for exactly 16 months, but I didn't get it up right away, so my 2 years with the insurance may be up. Still, I'd like to know what I can do to recharge it. So after its arrival, it took me I'd say 4 months to get in up on the roof, because that took a ladder, screwdrivers, time. So after all this difficulty with installation, you'd expect it to be longer lasting!! And looking back, I saw I had a warranty too. And it was within the time and so I wrote. This was in March, but NOBODY REPLIED! I hardly every purchase warranties on something. Wonder why. What good are they???
