Best litter box so far.
Backstory: 4 decades of owning cats has led to many, many searches for the best litter boxes. Before this one, I had 3 pans out: a small basic pan for a kitten, a sifting one that used pine pellets, and a very large box with 3 high sides. Unfortunately, I have a digger, and all my cats seem to like to fly out of the pans at full velocity. I seriously think they have a secret contest to see who can scatter the litter the furthest and with pans being near my shower, litter was always in the shower, on the floor, even outside the room. The boyfriend was out of patience and I went searching for low scatter litter boxes. I found this one. It seemed like the right fit but wasn't sure I wanted to spend $70 on yet another type of litter box but I kept going back to it.Finally, one color was reduced to $45 and I finally gave in.REVIEW: I've only been using it a few weeks. It is already worth it just from less b!@#$ ING from my boyfriend about litter on the floor and in the shower. Don't get me wrong, there is still small amounts of litter on my floor but those steps combined with an extra large mat SIGNIFICANTLY reduce the litter tracked out and reduces how far it flies because they can't just take a flying leap.I'm not crazy about the shape. The outside looks so weird but that is not a concern to me. I don't, however, like the kidney shape inside. I think the thought process was no square corners, no stuck poop in the corners but I assure you my cats find a way to get to narrowed edges and with rectangular scoops, it's a bit of an awkward angle to scoop. This is well worth the tradeoff of not having litter in my shower every single day.As you'll read in other reviews, yes it has a large footprint but my previous litter box was oversized too. Yes, it does well containing litter scatter. The lid doesn't snap or lock into place (which could be a potential problem if you have a large dog who is determined to get a snack -- though the design should keep them from casually walking by and grabbing a bite) but for me the lid not having to be locked down just makes it easier for me to remove for cleaning.Summary/TLDR: If you're looking for a litter box to reduce scatter, this is the best I've found so far.

Nice box/ pros and cons
We were in the market for something a little different than the standard square boxes, main goal : contain litter scattering a little better. For starters this one looks cute.. not sure how much that matters, but to us it was minimal on our list of needs. So far this box is- eh, ok after a couple months.. #1 like: it does contain litter scattering messes on the floor from entering/exiting the box which is what we really wanted and it works. Possible con- The dome lid does come off pretty easily, now our cats haven't knocked it off yet but we have ours against a wall. If your litter box is free standing somewhere you may want to find a method to really secure the lid on as other reviewers did. Now that being said about it coming apart, I have noticed when cleaning it the cats somehow get pee on the seam where the top and bottom of the dome meet, like if they smoosh their butts on the wall in there and go it sits on the ledge of the seam so that needs cleaned/ wiped separately or it gets pretty gross. Nothing ever runs out of the box though which seems odd. Odor control is great -we have noticed slightly less odor when it's getting closer to cleaning days (usually2- 3x wk) thinking it's the design that holds the smell in as opposed to flap doors or an open box and again almost all but a few tiny stray litter pieces gets stuck on the steps when they are walking out which has been awesome! Finally- the down sides of this .. cleaning it can be frustrating.. we don't use bags to line our pans never have or ever will.. our cats tear them apart and it's useless anyway. The shape of the box makes it really difficult to scoop since the inner edges are rounded and not sure I have ever seen a pooper scooper shovel without a square edge?? soo you can't get into the "corners" of the box very easily. And the litter that does sit on the steps is really hard to get off without flipping the entire box upside down or hose vaccuming it.. its been a learning curve to figure out how to clean this thing. Overall review.. still a good buy but with some positives & negatives.
