Will the black work with chocolate buttercream?

I haven't tried chocolate butter cream, but it works well with vanilla butter, whipped cream and sponge.

Can you use it to dye chocolate without it going a different consistency

No it makes it quiet wet hope that helps

Could I add these drops to genache icing made with chocolate and double/ heavy cream?

I don't see why not but if the chocolate is quite dark it might not show up much, but I guess it would give it a shade of the colour. The colours are quite strong.
