Durable and strong
Didn't care to leave a review until my cat dropped this one and nothing has happened to it. Good product. I am not bothered about the speed because, almost all drives come at around the same speed and we can't expect GBps transfer rates for hard drives yet. So, overall a good product you can buy.I feel, there is even a better option, cloud storage. If you are tech savvy, I think cloud storage works cheaper. Instead of spending all the money at once, you can pay for the storage and transfers you make. Works out much cheaper I think and there won't be any hassle of carrying this drive around when you move.

OK only for storage
If you are buying for storage its good but if you are buying to edit videos on premiere keeping it running than it will give you a drastic experience. Better buy 500gb external SSD which will save plenty of time.

2 reviews in one!
It's highly unusual that Amazon clubs the entire product stack into one review. Which means if you buy a 10TB and a 16TB, you can still only post one review. Extremely strange.Anyway I've already reviewed the 16TB version back in January, and the full text of that review is below this one. I purchased the updated 10TB unit in the new chassis. Unlike the picture, the logo is static and does not glow. The indicator light is now a small white dot instead of the soft blue light from earlier. The 2.5" drives use the same LED, so it makes sense for Seagate to use the same part. The chassis is heavily vented, unlike the earlier, mostly closed-off design. This is a welcome change but also allows for much more dust ingress. Small insects can also comfortably enter and breed. Speeds are good, probably because of the 4-platter (?) design. It is close enough to the 16TB to comfortably recommend it, even though a 5- or 6-platter unit would be a little quicker.I've posted the R/W speeds for this drive (the 16TB was already heavily reviewed so I didn't bother). I also have the hub version of the 10TB unit that's been in service for two years now and that is a little slower. Would really recommend using an aftermarket cable as Seagate supplies very poor quality USB cable that normally is the first part to fail. The 3.0 micro-B type connector is part of the problem, they should have switched to C long ago or retained the larger form factor B type, which is infinitely more reliable. For Linux, the GPT table shows up corrupted and need to be fixed with gdisk. As expected, you get a bit over 9TB of formatted space (HDD manufacturers are allowed to use B but it's actually b, so you've to divide by 1.024 every thousand). There is every sort of plug you would want - an unnecessary expense and a lot of unusable plastic. Given that the 16TB cost about 26k when I got it, this is considerably lower value but after Chia and with the Chinese power crisis, prices aren't going to drop soon.===============================================================================This is the original 16TB review:It's a very noisy drive, and not very portable. As a long-term archive it's unmatched, and the very fast transfer speeds from the Exos drive within make it far less tedious to fill than most other drives. The shipped USB cable will die in a few months because Seagate supplies a piece of string with all their external drives, so when it looks your drive is dying it's probably the cable. The seek noise and detection time is awful. Enterprise drives like the Exos are not designed to be turned off and noise is irrelevant in those applications, so while you get the very good speeds and assumed reliability, you also get the noise and heat that these drives produce. The controller does shut the drive off in accordance with your power management settings, so that's something. I will probably invest in another one soon, these are particularly good value when they're below 25k.

DO NOT BUY IF YOU HAVE A PS4. RESEARCH REDDIT AND OTHER FORUMS
It worked for 1-2 weeks then corrupted my psr which no longer turns on past safe mode. It worked perfectly until I used the hard drive. It's FALSE advertising, it is NOT compatible with ps4. Check reddit and playstation forums, I can't even initialize the console to reset it as it malfunctions every time saying "cannot start the ps4". I'm going to have to pay to get it fixed and / or buy a new one. Do your research and AVOID if you are using ps4. So disappointed its ruined my console and I've just bought Christmas presents for other people so I can't even replace it yet. Outraged!!!

BROKEN on first use - one-off issue or design flaw?
Broken within the first 30 minutes of use. Good packaging. Easy install - just plug and play on my Windows 10 computer. Quick to save some personal files. I decide to safely eject the drive and store it away in its original box for safe keeping - but on gently attempting to remove the USB cable from the point where it attaches to the drive, I hear a snap and out comes the cable housing, completely separated from the circuit board. If this is what happens to a part of the drive which will be subject to removal/insertion quite a few times throughout the product's life, I'd hate to think how well the rest of the drive is constructed. Safe to say that I shall not be trusting my valuable files to another Seagate device.

(Avoid) - How much do you value your data?
I bought this drive because it offered a good cost per terabyte @ 6TB. (Price at the time of writing was £83.49)As soon as I hooked it up to my PC it was evident why it was so cheap. This drive is slow and noisey even after resting it on some extra rubber feet, it still rattled away on my glass TV unit.I read it's SMART diagnostics after becoming concerned during my first 500GB transfer and I'm glad I did, It showed excessive up-time (time spent powered on), read errors, write errors, error correction control errors, excessive time spent on the data track (reading/writing to disk) and it was giving me a error on the PSU (power supply unit) or oxidation of the data cable (even though it powered on just fine). The SMART data was in worse shape then all of my other (older) external drives (6 of them) that I've had and written/read/formatted many times over the past 10+ years. My PC is no slouch, It's a custom build and it's running in tiptop condition.Even though the box came sealed, I would swear this unit was a reconditioned unit.Bottom line I couldn't keep this drive in good faith and trust it to keep my data safe and I had no intension of loading my 4TB of data to it so I immediately packed it up and started a return.I wound up buying the 'WD my Book 8TB' as soon as I finished off the return request, whilst waiting for this one to be picked up. It cost a little more £129.99 (I think) but I couldn't be happier with it, much faster and so much better quality then this drive. If that price is within your budget I would recommend giving this one a swerve and buying that one. With that said maybe I just got unlucky with my Seagate drive and got a defective one but on the other hand maybe I didn't and that's the reason they're so cheap.Good luck with whichever direction you go.Stay safe
